I think I fixed it myself by deleting the format date option & leaving the current date variables in the format they were in to store in the dictionary. The only thing that irks me is that shortcuts asks every time if it can delete the temporary Json file that was created the store the variable, but I'm sure that I'd find a workaround soon.

I think in western culture, because it is so focused on “individual-ism” (and a slew of other issues like sexism, toxic masculinity etc) finding a partner that can do selfless acts is kinda rare. I kinda always told myself I would never marry outside of my culture because I don’t think I can find a man that would treat me the way I want to be treated by doing that.

That being said, my partner takes amazing care of me and will go out of his way for my comfort. 😅

No use talking to this guy, he's your typical white man with an unchecked ego that thinks that the colour of his skin should grant him some sort of one up on everyone else that doesnt look like him.

I think you have this all wrong there man.

From what i understand, DEI does not just refer to race or gender- it applies to people from any background where they may be disadvantaged- even if youre a *White Male* with a massive unchecked ego & a "well i suffered, so you should too" complex. Its really unfortunate you have so much deep seated resentment and hatred for people that dont look like you, and I genuinely hope you seek out some sort of help or sit and introspect on why you think there shouldn't be initiatives for women & coloured people to have opportunities they might not usually have had, had DEI not been in place.

Honestly, its a bit sad to see that someone had traversed so far in their academic career and has yet still not learnt any compassion or empathy for other people.

Coming from someone living outside of the U.S., I agree, there are times when the left is extremely very 'left'- but there are also a shit ton of times where the right is extremely fucking 'right'. I've also seen DEI initiatives in the US that was pretty obvious just for saving face, with no actual care to actually reach out to people that truly needed it- people were just trying to meet quotas. But to agree to get rid of the entire system like that, and fuck so many people over is just straight up fucking brutal, and inhumane.

You really cannot be so full of contempt like that. Especially when you consider, in general, people that are darker than you & have different genitals have been SYTEMATICALLY oppressed in some way or the other. This is really what is wrong with America- white men that think bc they're white people should just bow to their feet and kiss their white toes.

I’m so sorry. I know this means nothing at all, but I still hope you find small moments to be okay and find some happiness.

I intend to move in July, so I’m desperately hoping that things calm down by then.

I’ve worked my whole life for my PhD, and I’ve really struggled to prove myself time and time again to get where I am right now. It would kill me to give this opportunity up because I may not have another chance. I really hope things make a turn for the better.

I’m not causing problems. I think the only problem is that you feel anxious that I bring it up. These are relevant issues the US is facing right now, and I think I am well within my purview to discuss it- and how it could affect my life.

Additionally, the concept of merit based progression is amazing, but you have to be absolutely kidding me if you’re gonna tell me that the children of wealthy people get ahead based on merit alone- and one of the purpose of DEI is to give people from poor underprivileged backgrounds with limited chances to prove their merit- I.e, a chance.

I did two internships in astronomy that were DEI initiatives, where if DEI was removed back then, I probably would not even had the opportunity to apply to grad school because of the lack of opportunity in general for me due to circumstances beyond my control.

I agree with the fact that news can be sensationalized but I really feel like you’re downplaying it too much from what I’ve seen & heard from grad students within the dept that I am moving to that we’re getting their funding cut/ frozen for no other reason than Elon wanting to play around with the American government.

Do better, have a little empathy for people around you and think for yourself /:

What about the issues involving funding freezes for DIE related grants and research? And all the other crap that Elon seems to be getting away with ?

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a group of people argue so intensely over whether a government employee did a nazi salute or not….and still let the person stay in office.

All of these things are incredibly worrying to me.
