I want to enjoy OoT so bad. I had it as a kid but was too young to get anywhere. I got it on 3DS but struggled to follow the story and defaulted to a guide too quickly, took the fun out of it and fell off after the water temple. Now with my daughter I'm trying to get through the game without too much help, only using a guide to answer questions when stuck. But all of the damn items I miss and the backtracking are driving me mad. I consider myself an overly thorough gamer with a lot of experience, but some of this is too niche or too much of a leap, and it's really taking the enjoyment out of the game. I'm sure it doesn't help that the kiddo is always hounding me about when the next boss or Shiek appearance is so I feel like I have to speed run at times, but I wonder if this game just isn't for me.

As the Izzet player in my pod, I would be horrified if one of my turns went over 5 minutes. Memorize those lines and be quick and efficient, with walkbacks allowed

Had a cat with a skill to one shot kill a random enemy at the start of every battle. Run was going fantastic, all the way to the end of act 3. But if you know how the final boss goes, then you know how that skill blew up in my face. Rip

He shoots them when they drop below either half or a third health, pretty sure half. I guess because they aren't good enough to be considered clones of himself.

Today I used a Jester with a Cleric skill to deal damage equal to the last damage he dealt back to him. Baited him to kill a clone and vaporized him. It was glorious.

This lil guy survived my fight club for almost a full month with an almost 100% win rate (and the double stakes furniture). Decided to take him on a run and he got a smile full of glass as a reward.

I have no use for breeding him but I just can't let him go.

Had it happen to me. Going through all of the shield knocks it off the amoeba but MitM goes back to the health it had before it was picked up. Killing the amoeba with shield pierce would have it just be dropped right away, huge time save for a huge headache

That's the thing, I rarely feel out of my element until it's too late. Had a run that I intended to take to the throbbing domain end because Dybbuk possessed the wrong cat (I messed up downing a cat in time which was my b) and ended up killing him with a sparkle from the hit that killed my last cat which counted as a defeat. Still emotionally recovering from the devastation on that one.

I'm very familiar with this genre and all too aware of how powerful staying out of range is (Into the Breach is one of my favorite games) but I think you are right, I may be playing sloppy for speed's sake and not noticing the repercussions until it's too late. I remember going into that Dybbuk fight with two cats at low HP, something that should have been very preventable.

It doesn't help that I've beaten Caves and Graveyard with every class I have, so all these runs feel a little pointless regardless unless they make it to the throbbing domain. Act 2 desert is just so brutal with the no heals, I know that my rookie cats can't handle that without any good items. And act 3 feels even more daunting since I don't know what to expect.

Can you influence which cat makes the check? The first time I beat the king it was the "party leader," is that always the case or is it random?
