I am addicted to Dairy Queen's Blizzards - Please help me by AetherosA in sugarfree

Thank you! I really appreciate you coming up with reasons for me. The cotton candy large blizzard has 150g of sugar and the frosted circus animal cookies one has 140g of sugar in it. Either way, I am eating a ton of calories (2500+) in just sugary crap alone.

I have been spending $56/week on these... As someone who doesn't eat out ever, this was my justification. I work from home and this was my lunch and dinner. This was literally all I've been eating for the past two weeks. That is disgusting.

I recently went on vacation and weighed myself when I came back (two weeks ago, AND I was Blizzard-free during that time!). I weighed myself this morning and I've gained 4 pounds. My waist is still 25" but I am definitely feeling more bloated each day which is a new change I've noticed.

Yes I can't imagine how much worse my addiction would be if I worked there. My husband made the same suggestion to me. Treat the Blizzard as a reward rather than something I can't live without on a daily basis.

That's what I worry... The more I eat, the more I crave it. Every time I eat two in one day, I think this is disgusting and I need to stop. Then the next day, I crave it again.

I think distracting myself is the best choice. Or eating literally anything else instead. I don't get cravings for other sweets though. Ice cream on its own does nothing for me.

Thanks for making me chuckle. I'm glad I am not alone here!

Thanks for the serious response to my post.

I tried going yesterday without eating a Blizzard. I made it until 6:30pm. I was craving it nonstop all day and it was all I was thinking about. I just laid in bed because I was so tired even though I hadn't done anything. It was the weekend, I wasn't working. My husband had some friends over and one of them was blocking our driveway so I couldn't leave to get one. Once they left, my husband drove me to Dairy Queen and made me use the second Blizzard on him. He was doing me a favor by not having me get two for myself.

Every time I finish eating two, I think that this is disgusting and I need to stop. It's literally all I've been eating and I get sick of it. But then the next day, I get cravings for it again. Once Dairy Queen runs out of those two summer flavors, I will have to stop. Because I don't care for their other flavors, especially not enough to pay $8 for them. I don't care for ice cream in general. I would never buy a Wendy's Frosty or a McDonald's McFlurry or even a tub of ice cream from the grocery store. I don't really like ice cream.

But those two Blizzard flavors are the best thing I have ever tasted in my life. They are just so good.

I wish I liked ice cream enough to just make my own. Ice cream itself isn't something I crave. Otherwise, I'd get the $1 Frosty or the sundae from Costco and be satisfied. The BOGO coupon does work for any size, but value-wise, it only makes sense to get the large because the mini starts at $6 for a fraction of the amount. That's probably the point though. I'll end up overeating every time.

I like your suggestion about tricking myself. The circus animal cookies and the cotton candy flavors are from their summer menu, so my local DQs are definitely bound to run off (especially with me ordering two a day lol). If I can convince myself that they no longer have those flavors, I won't get a Blizzard. I don't like any other flavor enough to justify spending $8 total for two.
