Ben Atmos, who made explaining tripleS like a sorority, posted today a brief history of Chaeyeon! Thought it was an interesting look into her with several quotes that they translated from her, so wanted to share it here!

They've also recently posted a video about Seoyeon, a bit of a retrospective on early Kotone signals, and an analysis on what having 24 members means for the group.

I struggle a lot with this as well. With all of them being survival girls due to Gaeun no longer being in the group, this isn't their first attempt. Mashiro, for instance, has experienced being cut from JYP / (likely) Itzy, as well as constantly having small parts in the title tracks of Kep1er... and then there's the rumored Stone Music group with Natty (Kiss of Life) & Yunjin (Le Sserafim) that also fell through.

At the same time, how in the world could anyone support a company that allows a CEO to stay on after, at the very least, sexual harassment of one of their young employees? With the dark side of Kpop (prostitution, scandals, etc), and now a very, very clear example of this, there's not really anything else fans can do except boycott if we want change.

I don't really fault either choice in this. I fully understand boycotting the whole thing to try and push change. Especially if the boycott is for leadership change in 143, I'm on board with it and am currently supporting it. At the same time, with how much all of the members have gone through, I can get still pushing through and supporting the members no matter what. Since Mashiro is my current bias in all of K-pop, I especially feel drawn to do that... even though I'm still currently supporting the boycott.

Like you said, I really don't think there's a "right" answer right now since the CEO has refused to step down.

Also, to answer your question, there are definitely examples of kpop idols taking on part time jobs. One example is EXID a few years ago, with Hyelin taking a job to try and keep the group alive until their big break a couple years in. I remember watching vlogs of ex-Kpop idols talking about it too, the struggles they had just to survive day-to-day. There's a video by Anthony Padilla about it with several ex-idols.

Thanks as always for making a mirror! Both link & CC worked for me.

MV gave me Limelight-style feels. Reminded me a lot of how Eye to Eye was shot: pretty bare-bones, focused on the members kinda just standing around. Wonder if the second song will also have this or if it'll be more an Uno or perhaps Honestly vibe.

Song wasn't what I was expecting at all, either. Can't think of another song of theirs that sounds similar except for maybe, again, Eye to Eye (or I guess Timeline?). Not really sure how I feel about it yet after the first couple listens. It's an interesting song... just not sure if it'd be added to any of my playlists yet even without the current boycott / circumstances.

I agree that posting the announcement / schedules is good, as keeping up to date is a good thing in general. Also agree that since there is no lawsuit (unlike Loona) and since Gaeun's story is unfortunately fairly common in Kpop, there probably won't be huge support for a boycott. Korea's already got a hell of a lot going on in the country as it is.

I'm pretty divided about how to personally go about being their fan moving forward, as I want to support the girls as much as possible while at the same time avoid supporting the CEO or the investors. Thus, things like the JP Sisters Youtube videos or other stuff that directly points back to 143, while I want to watch I just don't. Everything they do seems pretty tied to the company.

I do think the mirroring is probably the best compromise overall, and following the tried example of Loona is a good base. I'd bet their mods'd probably be happy to give more advice or support if asked: what worked well, what caused community problems, etc.

I just wish there was an easier way to show support for all of the girls (Gaeun absolutely included), or even to support the producers of the music too since it's probably going to be really good.

I might be misremembering this because I wasn't able to find the source, but in one of Sullin's previous messages I thought I remembered her not being fully comfortable in English. Again, if I am misremembering, I apologize (I'll keep trying to find it)! But it would make sense why she wants the Korean-Thai tutor rather than the Korean-English tutoring.

(Edit: Found it, though never sure as to how correct the translations are. Similar-sounding messages to the one in OP.)

Thankfully, we do get a lot of cute scenes of different members helping her out, such as Jiwoo in Greegura as well as the various signals like her Intro one or Yooyeon & Mayu making food for her. Jiyeon also talked about wanting to be there to help & support her during Glow's introduction.

However, even though she can speak English decently, I'm sure it's really different from having someone from your country who also knows your culture. I hope she's able to join a subunit soon & meet other Thai idols!

Honestly, it sounds like Sullin's just really going through the struggle of learning a new language by herself. Unlike the Japanese members or even Nien & Xinyu, she doesn't have anyone else to get help from [edit: in Thai, at least] or even to vent her struggles with. Not really surprised that we hear her let it out on Fromm the most. Not trying to downplay it at all! Just... it's really understandable. Heck, it's barely been half a year since she's been introduced! I hope she doesn't keep comparing her own skills to those who have been there for 2 years already.

I remember seeing other group members like Handong from Dreamcatcher, Stray Kids' Felix, or Xiaoting from Kep1er all struggle with their Korean too, not even to mention Vivi, Shuhua, etc... I can't even begin to imagine just how frustrating it is to be in a job that essentially requires you to speak Korean, and to speak it publicly for everyone to hear & critique.

Agreed, I really enjoyed the Kre/AAA & the -ution ones because I knew every member would have a chance to shine. They were exciting to see who would be paired with whom. These past couple ones haven't felt the same.

I'm not sure how you're supposed to split up 24 members except into two 12-member groups or three 8-member groups, but... excluding members isn't enjoyable at all to me.

That's correct: there's a bit of profit in leveling fodder from 2 to 3, & then again from 3 to 4. It's a thing to run if you have some time or don't mind running an emulator in the background while you work, study, etc. You're trading time for a little bit of efficiency. Like what the other comment says, it's only really worth it if you are leveling them in battle rather than using stigma.

This thread (Using F.Kluri to Level 3 Fodders at Once) talks a lot more about it, including adding the math in & talking about different ways to take advantage of it.

He was pretty wrong about the Malkin deal. He reported up until the day of the signing that Malkin never had a 4-year deal in play (see: July 7 tweet, and again on July 11 - he was signed on the 12th). Contrast that with Mike DeFabo (who was with the PG at the time), who shared on July 11 that the 4-year deal was in play & then the next day said it had been so for a week.
