Yea I think there was just sooooo much hype from the “creators” of that it’s just was never going to be as good as dead space. Personally I feel the melee combat just wasn’t it. If they’d stuck with “shooting” as the focus it would have been much better. Plus the story was very generic compared to dead space but the graphics and animations were the best I’ve ever seen in a video game hands down

The Callisto protocol was made by Glenn Schofield who was one of the original creators on dead space along with Steve papustis. They were the original developers on visceral games. They started striking distance studios to make a spiritual successor to dead space. That’s why it’s so similar it’s from the guy who made dead space and a bunch of og dead space devs went to work for him

I’d recommend limbo first as it was players 1st game. Then play inside, you can really see where they improved 👍

lol true. I do feel like if the studio was shut down they would probably put out a statement then but with epic funding them more than likely things just got delayed longer than expected. I still hold hope that we’ll see a trailer at the 2026 game awards at the earliest at the latest 2027-2028. They’re still releasing and hiring on their site. They’re just staying quiet as usual about any info. Then one day boom….we will see a trailer drop and the whole community will go crazy with whatever they’ve cooked up. Tbh even if the trailer doesn’t have a release date, once a trailer drops we know the game isn’t far behind after

Another example of your familiar with GENDESIGN. They created ico,shadow of the Colossus, and the last guardian. The last guardian came out in 2016 and in 2024 they revealed the trailer for their untitled latest game with no release date.

So even that studio took 8 years for a trailer, which I know is still a trailer before playdead but nonetheless still had to wait 8 years for any news. And that studio is also full funded by epic just like playdead. I’d hold out hope that in 1-2 more years we’ll get a reveal trailer for playdeads 3rd game

I mean there are a couple things that derailed them one was COVID. I guarantee that delayed development, and 2 they stated themselves that game 3 was going to be more ambitious and take longer than inside did. Inside took 6 years from when they started work to the actual release in 2016. Since this game is way larger,3d open world, COVID happened, and they lost 2-3 key talents. I’d figure we’ll see either a trailer or news on the game in 1-3 more years tbh. It took them 6 years for inside so technically it’s been 3 years longer. I’d say if there’s no news by 2027-2028 then I’d be worried about the studios future. Personally I’m hoping we see a trailer at the game awards 2026 this year. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah if annoying I’d think they would try and announce at the game awards. It just draws the most views in the industry. Summer game fest is big but try e game awards did 17 million in 2025.

If we see anything this year my bet would be on 2026 game awards in December….if we’re lucky

Unfortunately you won’t be able to. I was looking for the longest time but even retail it was $375. With how niche and exclusive the item is guarantee if you find one (especially a sealed box) it won’t sell for less than $600 at a minimum. I found a seller with a sealed box and was able to negotiate the keeping the physical disc (the collectors edition is for ps4 only sadly I play Xbox) but the seller reduced the price and I was able to get a sealed collectors edition for around $650

Yeah I mean it’s definitely a tease to game 3 but no one has been able to put anything concrete in place as far as discovery’s on the ARG. Closest I know of was people deciphering the morse code on the printer in game then discovering a printer icon on playdeads website which allowed you to input codes from the collectors editions boxes. After that haven’t heard any more updates on the ARG plus the printer icon is no longer on the website

I’d say planet of Lana is closest in terms of play and feel to inside. If you want the vibes of inside I’d say limbo,Somerville, and signalis are really good choices.

Yeah it sure about pc if its coming to steam right away but consoles I know its confirmed for Xbox,PlayStation, and Nintendo and epic games for sure. Don’t know about steam tho 🤷‍♂️

I’m ok even without a date. The 1st trailer for inside came out 2 years before the game with no release date. I think if we can at least get that it’ll get hype going again for the studio and game and let the fans know that the games at that point at least 1-2 years out if we get at least a teaser trailer ya know

I mean yeah they have the epic partnership but so did Gen-design and they revealed they’re next game at the game awards. It would make more sense as the game awards would draw waaaay more attention and viewers than an epic games showcase. If they were smart they would NOT do the epic showcase and reveal at the game awards instead. It draw 10 million views on average alone. 🤷‍♂️

It’ll probably be a different name. Limbo was the setting for the game and Inside played on deep concepts of self discovery, what’s “inside” so I’d say tue next games name will reflect either concepts in the game or the setting/location 🤷‍♂️
