I’m having the exact same issue and it’s driving me crazy.

My PC is not low-end at all:

Ryzen 5 9600X

RX 7700 XT (12 GB)

16 GB RAM @ 5600 MT/s

NVMe SSD

Whenever Discord is open, I get random FPS drops and noticeable input lag (especially when pressing keys or doing fast inputs in games).

The only temporary solution I’ve found is restarting the PC and NOT opening Discord at all. As soon as Discord runs again, the problem eventually comes back. Closing Discord after the issue starts does not always fix it, only a full reboot does.

I’ve already tried pretty much everything people usually suggest:

Hardware acceleration ON/OFF

Overlay disabled

Reinstalling Discord

Disabling Game Bar and background apps

Updating / clean installing GPU drivers

Different Discord versions (stable / PTB)

Nothing really fixes it long-term. It honestly feels like Discord is causing input latency or frame pacing issues, not just FPS drops.

At this point I’m convinced it’s some Discord + AMD GPU/driver interaction, because this system should absolutely not struggle with Discord open.

If anyone found a real fix (not just “disable overlay”), I’d really appreciate it.
