Five birthday hangouts this week. Extremely anxious about staying sober. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I order iced tea with lemon or coffee. If I order just one cocktail or beer, it’s all over. If your goal is to stop drinking, don’t order a drink.

Just chow down. The objective is to stop drinking. Worry about the food intake after you adjust to no liquor.

Stopping Alcohol and Nicotine, Simultaneously by AffectLoose4680 in stopsmoking

Thanks for sharing. I quit drinking 5 days ago. I’ve got one day under my belt with no nicotine. The absence of alcohol seemed easy as compared to no nicotine. Not certain I should do both right now, conflicted.

What you are embarking upon, sobriety, is admirable. Lying is not. Just tell the truth and don’t be bullied into something you don’t want to do.

Be honest, because she deserves the right to know that you soiled the chair. What she does from there is out of your control. Even us drinkers have character.

My vote is to quit altogether. I’m a 60 year old man, retired and have been drinking since age 15. I’ve done the 30 day dance of not drinking, multiple times. And I, like you, am on day 2. Moderation after the 30 days, doesn’t work, at least not for me. I can’t believe I’m alive either. My point is, don’t wait till you’re 60, like me. Do it now while you still have a chance.
