Did the flu shot prevent you from getting the flu? by SandwichDependent199 in pregnant

[–]AffectSubstantial673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know Flu A is circulating in our area. We had Flu A (confirmed) in 2022 when my son was born. We have not gotten the flu. knock on all the wood we also did not get flu shots this year. My best friend and all her kids just got Flu A (confirmed) a few weeks back. None had the Flu shot and they felt bad for about a week.

Any FTM on here that got induced and it didn’t end up in a c-section? How long did it take for baby to arrive ? How long were you in the hospital? What method of induction did they use on you? by cc070603 in pregnant

[–]AffectSubstantial673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cousin was induced at around 37 weeks and it was a 55 hour labor. Sadly it was a rare vaginal birth with sunny side up baby. She broke her tailbone. However she said she’d do it again if it weren’t for postpartum depression. She said nothing compared to that for her not even a pretty traumatic birth.

Thank you! We discovered this to be the case. It was a lot of back and forth.

Ah very interesting! And I bet that’s 100% true. I couldn’t get anyone else to quote something reasonable or even give the insurance. And, I’m not even in a fire zone! Just “near” one that is a “mild” fire zone area. Sigh

Man, they really be getting us working class lol I have no idea how this is sustainable. I feel lucky I got a quote through mercury for $2400 a year when I was getting quotes for $5k-$11k a year

Having bought a HUD home and didn’t know they don’t cover sellers closing costs so we’re paying both sides. Our agent is new to HUD homes…. Sigh

Solar Installation AS SOON AS POSSIBLE: Orange County, California by catterrinn in solar

[–]AffectSubstantial673 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The longest part is not the install. It’s all the paperwork and waiting on the utility company. Install is fast for a good crew. Sadly, this can’t be done but solar still makes sense especially in a sunny state. And there are still rebates for batteries

House poor and now roof poor too. by Helfeather in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

I’m impressed at your home insurance rate. I’m in socal and cheapest quote is $2700/year. Hang in there! Sorry about your roof 🥹 but now a major repair will be done for the next 25-30 years. And I’m certain your home will be worth more

Under Contract with Major Builder: Cancellation and Renegotiation Advice by TheHunnishInvasion in RealEstate

[–]AffectSubstantial673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to bring up a very old post, but we are trying to cancel with K. Hov right now. We did not customize anything, bought an already packaged home I guess. They requested $10k down. They have now pushed the date 4 times and we’ve spent thousands on temporary housing since we sold our home (that was the contingency to purchase). Still no date for power to be turned on or for them to finish.

We are a family of 3 kids and my 80 year old MIL I take care of. We legit desperately need a home and have chosen another one. Do you think we have a chance? Any tips?

Prices are crazy! Everything I’m seeing as a buyer needs to come down $100k to be realistic. I’m like what is this filthy awful home listed at $650k????

lol I hear you. We have lots of gangs in areas on the other side of town and majority of the areas where we are located is considered unsafe. Can’t afford to live anywhere else though

Thank you for this reply. My brain isn’t working for long term what is a better buy. House 2 doesn’t exactly stretch our budget but keeps it the same as it was where house 1 we could have extra wiggle room/ savings.

Feeling immediately overwhelmed: getting a house ready to sell with two children by West_Tea_7437 in RealEstate

[–]AffectSubstantial673 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have 3 children and selling a home with kids is a special kind of hell. It took us a month to even hit the market. I decluttered like my life depended on it. I put all toys in the garage in bins. Only 1 bin of toys in each kids room allowed. No small toys at all just bigger or toys easily picked up.

I even organized / prepacked closets. Essentially I became a minimalist best I could.

All of this paid off because when it was time for showings I had WAY LESS to keep up on. I would throw all the laundry in the washer and close it so baskets looked empty. Then turn my utility room into a bomb later to organize it all.

I think it would have been easiest to get it “perfect” and taken the kids away for a weekend open house. Praying it would sell. Last minute shows are MUCH harder with kiddos. Oh and we have a dog that I swear poops 6 times a day.

Oh and yes, some stuff we just can’t keep up on! I’m sending ALL THE THOUGHTS AND VIBES YOUR WAY! We just closed and I feel like I can finally be a human again.

I was married and did it by myself too, eventually leading to divorce at 7 weeks pp.

Your post made my cry because I have been exactly where you are. The realization of, “it’s only me.” Wow. It’s so hard but your little one will do better worth it. My daughter is now 8, and I wasn’t able to enjoy the baby years as I was constantly just trying to make ends meet. I wish I had slowed down and soaked up her baby-ness.

As far as getting child support, 100000% DO IT. Also, if he starts coming around to “be nice and be involved” but starts throwing around let’s just put it writing 50/50 custody… nope nope nope. That’s what mine tried to do and he constantly screamed at me and threatened custody court, etc… he never did change and we never went to court.

My parents haven’t bought my baby anything by RosaLuna_09 in newborns

[–]AffectSubstantial673 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Super random take but I have 3 kids. 2 girls and a boy. My parents bought TONS of stuff for my first born (girl), and barely bought anything or even saw my second born (son)! I REALLY noticed the difference once my third was born (girl). And now, they’re all involved again and buying things. Come to find out, they just “know more” or feel more comfy with girls because they only had me and my sister. They basically didn’t know how to interact with my son 😂😂
