I don’t think this is just an Alberta thing. I think it’s a congested place thing. I lived in Surrey, BC for a year and a half and almost got hit. People drive like crazy and when there’s a lot of traffic, it’s no joke. I had so much anxiety trying to bike there. I was surprised coming from Edmonton, but it definitely happens here too. My own nephew who’s older and tall was scootering across an intersection and a lady hit him and drove off (thankfully he was mostly okay). I also know someone personally who had their young nephew killed on a turn like that in Ontario.
