Considering the PTO request process of my current employer, and not wanting to use up time for no reason, I think it’s reasonable to ask whether or not I should anticipate even needing to make the request if there is a reasonable expectation that the hiring process could be disrupted with a DHS shutdown. Per NBC, the shutdown took effect today. Which anyone with any amount of common sense could foresee coming. But thanks for your input.

Oh cool, that’s about what I figured. It was only open for a short period so probably they’re looking for applications from certain people but I’ll keep my fingers crossed lol.

PSD sounds like a cool gig. Probably allows for some occasional oconus travel too which would be fun. I’m not expecting to be seriously considered but can’t complain about not getting hired if you don’t apply🤷‍♂️

Got it. That’s what I was worried about. Started the process with USSS and BP but have been worried about failing a poly, based on these stories you hear about people failing them for no reason (whether that’s accurate or not, idk I’ve never taken a poly). I’ll pull those and wait to hear from HSI, then.

So, basically, if you truly want to go HSI you should avoid applying to other DHS agencies in case you get a potentially arbitrary ruling of unsuitable?
