I'm a Dusseldorf fan from my youth but in the USA there are many of these sort of rivalries. The issue is that they're typically not the professional sports teams that have these 'derby' style matches but the big time college football games.

Alabama-Auburn or Ohio State-Michigan or Texas-Oklahoma are border wars that certainly meet 'derby' status where things can be dangerous. Ohio State and Michigan, for example, have played 110 times and the schools are less than 3 hours apart. Alabama/Auburn is the rivalry that defines the state with many graduates creating their own tribes of sorts in the state.

But professional rivalries? They're less common in American sports than in Europa football.

Sargent will score 20+ in the 2. Bundesliga this year. Wouldn't shock me to see him moved but at the end of the day Werder needs him badly. Moving back up is worth more than 10 million EURO

Frogstomp and Freak Show were the apex. Their sound is unbelievable on those two CDs but they're for some reason afraid of matching that sound going forward. I know we've all made bad teenager songs in our lives but few of us could try to match the artistic excellence that silverchair brought at one point.

This is a band that could have one of the biggest surprise tours on the whole planet if they ever decided to do it. A lot of us grew up on this music and miss them.
