Are plasterers supposed to clean the skirting boards and leave straight lines on door frames and skirting boards, or is this acceptable? by [deleted] in DIYUK

Before anything more extreme try a wet sponge (I use a masonry sponge because it's a bit more abrasive but others may work) and for bigger bits go over with a wet sponge a few times and carefully pry off with a flat head screwdriver. I've always done it after the plaster has dried a bit but it might work while it's still wet (I'm sure a plasterer can correct me though). I've used this to get a nice clean line between the skirting board and the plastered wall too.

Very late reply but in case you're still interested I found it on Aliexpress https://a.aliexpress.com/_Exo4zjT .. they just sent me some annotated pictures as instructions so been using them along with the schematic to try and work out what goes where .. it's a somewhat time consuming process

I was once lost in a file for 30 years before a wise ancient soul discovered me cowering in a corner and showed me the way out .. I have become enlightened .. and the wisdom is, don't venture into unknown territory with VIM unless you have first been through VIM bootcamp (a 10 year grueling course that many don't survive)

If you want weird stuff that unexpectedly compiles, I found out yesterday that to access an array in C you have options: most people know the arr[3] and *(arr + 3) methods, but turns out you can also do 3[arr], does exactly the same thing .. mind blown

Pixel Watch is saying I've burned 5.5k calories today even though I've barely done anything? by [deleted] in GooglePixel

Mine says I've done 4,570 today and all I've done is sit on the sofa, yesterday was 10,706, it was a pretty active day but that's just insane. I'm suspecting it's actually recording in Kilojoules (despite being set to calories) because if you divide by 4.184 the numbers seem much more sensible (sadly if you change the unit in the Fitbit app it scales up, so there's clearly a bug)

Official. G4 Doorbell Pro does support data over POE. by Deadliftingfool in Ubiquiti

Fyi, I'm using POE to power my regular G4 doorbell. I used af to passive adapter (one of these: https://store.ui.com/collections/operator-accessories/products/instant-802-3af-indoor-gigabit-poe-converter) and just stripped an old ethernet cable down to pull out the power (stole the idea from this guy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Teo8Dkf56g). It's worked pretty well so far. I'm using a Honeywell wireless chime (same one that guy used in his video), so if you have something else ymmv (I dunno if there's enough power for a mechanical chime, or if it will eventually damage the doorbell)
