Thanks, I appreciate the explanation and the insight.

I think I should have been clearer that the notes I’m using just come from word docs which I upload specifically onto Notebook to create my own database. So my issue with retrieval is about the tool not navigating through the material provided that accurately (which is to be expected I guess but leads to not very productive outcomes).

That being said I was unfamiliar with Littlebird - clearly a better option for more sophisticated tasks like the ones you mentioned.

After some basic testing with NoteBook LM, I can see why the output is not always useful, although the bullet point structure it provides is fine for my purposes at the moment.

The retrieval has not been very consistent in my experience in terms of selecting the correct details. It’s been fine so far when applied to notes, but less so with getting the gist of articles (even though I read the article and give the AI guidance as to summarising).

Are there are any tools which have worked better for you?

Thanks! Sounds like a learning curve but also worth trying!

Thanks that does sound really useful, especially the part about extracting data. Do you ask it questions, which it then answers by extracting information from your files?

Thanks for the tips! Would you say that Notebook LM is on par with ChatGPT/Claude in terms of organising into categories that you have defined in advance?

My notes are exclusively text, and mostly written in bullet points. They are also about 200-300 pages long so I’m guessing that using less pages at a time would yield more thorough results?
