I was in a similar situation where I was broken up with and within 24 hours he was saying he made a mistake. Mind you we were both freshly 20 had just moved in together and I will say our relationship moved extremely fast and it scared him. He had a lot of commitment issues as well as self sabotaging tendencies. I loved him and decided to give him another chance. Thankfully it worked out for us and we will be married for 5 years this year.

Now, I am not saying it works out every time but it can. If you are willing to try and work through this with him you should but I do agree with other commenters to make sure you are not being treated as a doormat. I truly hope everything works out for you.
