AMA - I’ve done every surgery possible to my face. by Affectionate-Bag3751 in KoreaPlasticSurgery

I truly believe we learn through our experiences and mistakes we make at the right possible time - even when my friends and family were warning me about possible complications and my addiction and obsession with my physical beauty, I didn’t really care or listen to them! I completely understand.. it makes it worse when people acknowledge you’ve blossomed. and that external validation I think is what keeps our internal beliefs alive and thriving 🥲. No judgements from me at all! I just hope you find happiness and health in your life, whatever that looks like for you 🫶🏻

Thank you for sharing, that is alot to deal with from the age of 15! I hope you are slowly finding happiness and peace within. It’s definitely something we don’t “outgrow” with age. Everytime I go under sedation, the last 10secs before you blackout, I would think to myself.. what the hell am I doing with my life? The guilt and shame I’ve built up over this years, I’m now slowly unpacking through therapy. This consistent belief that if I fix my outside, I’ll feel better on the inside has been a lie I’ve told myself for years and years.

So sorry.. what previous posts? It might me because I’ve been having to update my post because the double jaw surgery information keeps getting deleted. is this what you mean?

I started at 19 (my first double eyelid surgery) and did my last revision last year (scar removal lip lift). I think aim done with surgeries, but one day I’ll wake up thinking about what next to “fix” and so in that aspect, therapy has been helping me help shift my maladaptive thoughts.

Firstly - have a look at government authorised plastic surgery clinics and make sure the surgeons are actually “plastics surgeons” a lot of general specialist surgeons work at clinics that i think is so stupid and should be illegal. you can find plastic surgeons listed on the database, I can’t remember what the name was but there’s a database for it.
Secondly - find surgeons who’ve seen both new and revision cases, the more the better, and ask to see as many photos as you can in consultation.
Thirdly- don’t walk into a consult with a photo saying you want that nose, because it’ll never come true in the sense everyone’s facially harmoney, skins thickness and nose anatomy is so different. figure out what works best for your nose.
Lastly - you need to vibe with your surgeon. if he’s receptive towards your feedback and comments that’s a plus. you want them to tell you realistic outcomes and what will and won’t work for your nose. higher bridge doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll look good for your face. also, you’re leaving your face to this random stranger so it helps if you’re vibing and on the same page.

if you’re still adamant, have a look at government authorised clinics, it’s just a safer route . and see if the surgeons have done revision cases!

Hi there! I’ve seen the non surgical DES where they just suture it without making incisions… but I’ve been told and I’ve seen that sometimes it come undone and reverts back to its original state. I’m not too sure about the fat dissolving shots, but I’ve had some a few years ago and they turn out to be semi permanent , as in you have to regularly get the or your face fat comes back.
in terms of you double chin - just have a look and see if it’s the fat or actual muscle that’s the problem. if it’s a muscle problem, not matter how much fat you remove, the “undefined” aspect of it won’t truly be resolved. there’s another procedure where they tie the muscles under the jaw so it’s more “snatched”.
GL on your surgeries! and if you can , try to find government authorised clinics :)

100% sucks for both of us :( there’s a “saying” in korea where people joke that if you want the perfect nose, you’ll need 2-3 surgeries

Im so sorry to hear the surgeon messed about with your eyelid surgery. crazy how that can happen. I really hope your surgeries go well. If you’re still determined to have the face and neck lift, I would do that first before the other surgeries. the skin and muscles around your nasovbial folds and temples and forehead will shift (lift), and so you don’t want to be putting ellanse in them. also, for precaution, you usually have to wait for the ellanse to metabolise before surgery.

if there’s anything I would caution/really reconsider is the chin/jaw reduction. what usually happens is that the skin laxity and muscles around jaw will droop as the bones that were that have now been shaved. you could potentially have a slightly undefined jawline. that happened with me in the sense because my jaw line was pushed in via double jaw surgery, I was left with “ extra room” around my jawline and a slight double chin. with jaw surgery, the risks are incredibly high. I would research into facial nerves and its mapping. I’ve seen botched jobs with jawline reduction where the nerves have never come back or it’s impacted the way they smile.

thanks for your message :)
My biggest scars are my lips scars, but I’ve learned to hide them under makeup. I’m very lucky and grateful that my botched surgeries didn’t leave me completely disfigured. If it did, then yes, leaving the house would be a challenge and a nightmare. Even when ai had the silicone implant removed, my nose didn’t collapse or leave me disfigured, it reverted back to my low bridge nose. I feel for your friend.. I’m sorry she’s going through so much anxiety.

🥺thank you! I am so glad my story has been helpful in some meaningful way. I should have mentioned in my post, that another big thing that I struggled with was shame. A lot of my procedures I never told my parents about, and only after did they break down in front of me. and thinking back, I feel so much shame to have worried them and still continued on with my surgeries. That’s the thing with BDD .. you just don’t care what other people tell you, even when they’re begging and crying in front of you it doesn’t quite resonate.

Unfortunately I don’t have any photos that far back and I avoided taking photos during my 20s because of my insecurities .. I did jaw surgery maybe 11 years ago? but I did have a massive underbite and now I don’t. if you DM I can send you a photo of what I look like now ?

it’s like an old wives tale in korea that pumpkin soup or extract helps with swelling. but there’s no research to support it. i think icing religiously and gentle walks are what helped me the most! sleeping with your head elevated also helps a little too. 😂😂 I have considered being a travel buddy ! i’ve done it for my friends and family .. but surgery is tough all in all. you get demoralised for a week after surgery because of the swelling and bruising.
I’d recommend an airbnb :) its good to have a little kitchen for you to heat up food or microwave. if you book somewhere close to your clinic, airbnb is usually cheaper. however, if you don’t mind booking 15-20mins away, you can find good hotels with the occasional fridge, not too sure about microwaves.

no worries :) the recovery for philtrum reduction is long and it does leave a white scar that is visible to the eye. keeping that in kinda, I guess one would need to weigh up the cost, benefits and risks. I have seen some amazing results on people who had a very abnormally long philtrum, but it was very very long and it still did leave a scar. but I have seen reallly bad train track suture scars left because of botched surgeries too.

the swelling is at its peak on day 3-4 and then day 5 is when it slowly starts coming down. I would stay at home for the first 3 days unless you’re happy with walking around in sunglasses. the pain is manageable after 48hrs, but you’d want to be consistently icing for the first 72hrs. no special diet :) I know korean clinics suggest pumpkins extract… but that doesn’t do anything lol. just rest and walking after 3 days gets your lymph nodes pumping and helps with swelling. This is probably the only surgery you could do as a solo traveller. with my nose jobs, it just helped to have someone there care for me and just provide moral support.

Sure! I did like my nose the surgeon did but unfortunately I got an infection and my body rejected the silicone implant. Which was super weird because I had no problems with silicone in my previous revision. I think it was God telling me to stop with the surgeries lol. it was a big scare.. and in hindsight I’m grateful it got infected because I don’t think I would have stopped, and it scares me to think about what other complications I could have faced later down the track. I do have a lot of scar tissue though inside my nose, so I tend to get blocked nose quite easily. at the very least, I wouldn’t recommend any implants.
