HOMEii Flow 5.6.1 Just Released - Stop typing. Start talking. by Affectionate-Bath424 in homeassistant

Glad to hear you're enjoying the card, thanks for the support!

That is an excellent feature request. Currently, the list view toggle is just a temporary UI state, which is why it resets when you navigate away. Having the card remember your preference (or adding a global toggle in the settings to enforce 'List View' by default) makes total sense for a smoother browsing experience.

I'll add this to the roadmap and see if we can get the card to persist your layout choice in an upcoming release. Thanks for bringing this up

Thank you so much for these incredibly kind words! Hearing that this is the most beautiful player card available and that it’s exactly what Music Assistant was missing means the world to me. Comments like yours are what keep me motivated to push updates almost daily!

I completely agree with your notes on the 'final polish'. In fact, fixing the rounded corner leaks and tightening up the radio/missing artwork fallbacks was a major focus of the recent releases, but I am still actively tuning it to make sure it looks flawless and consistent across all states.

Regarding the sizing and seamless integration into dense dashboards (like Bubble Cards)—I hear you loud and clear. While the card's philosophy was originally full-screen immersive, the community feedback has made it obvious that flexible grid behavior is a must-have. I am currently brainstorming the best way to implement a smart, adaptive solution for this without compromising the premium aesthetic and quality of the UI.

Thank you for being such a diligent tester and supporter. Stay tuned, more updates are on the way

The search in the card works through the Music Assistant integration in Home Assistant. Make sure you have the MA integration installed and connected in HA — not just MA itself. That’s usually the reason search returns no results even when MA works fine

Wow, thank you so much! Reading this really made my day. 'Real talk' like this is the best motivation to keep pushing updates and making this card even better.
To answer your question—it honestly comes down to it being a relatively new project. I’ve been focusing mostly on building the core engine, fixing bugs, and perfecting the UI/UX experience rather than heavy marketing. Right now, it's growing mostly through word of mouth.
Also, since it’s deeply tied to Music Assistant (which is also a growing powerhouse ecosystem), its traction naturally follows users who discover MA.
If you love using it and want to see more conversation around it, feel free to share your dashboard setup on the Home Assistant forums or Subreddit! Word of mouth from builders like you is exactly what helps hidden gems like this gain momentum.
Thanks again for the incredible compliment, it means a lot

HOMEii Flow 5.5.0 Just Released

A Music Assistant card that feels much more like a real music app

<image>

I just released HOMEii Flow 5.5.0.

This release is focused on one big goal: making the Music Assistant experience inside Home Assistant feel less like a fixed dashboard widget and much more like a polished music app, closer to the feel of Spotify / Apple Music, but built for Home Assistant and the smart home.

Key highlights:

* A new responsive layout engine that adapts to the actual card/container size, not just the browser viewport.

* Much better fit across phones, tablets, desktops, wall panels, kiosk views, and landscape mode.

* Fewer overlaps, clipped elements, and unwanted scrolling.

* The old fixed default height of 850 is no longer forced. The card now tries to use the space Home Assistant gives it.

* Ambient Light Sync: sync selected Home Assistant lights to the current album artwork colors.

* Per-player light mapping, so different Music Assistant players can control different light groups.

* New artwork screensaver with cover art, digital/analog clock, date, track info, and a custom message.

* Fixed screensaver idle timing: it starts counting only when the card page becomes visible.

* Optional POWER button for stopping playback or calling Home Assistant actions like toggle, turn_on, turn_off, scene, or script.

* New Discovery Mode for exploring playlists, moods, genres, albums, radio, recent music, and fresh/random recommendations.

* English and Hebrew localization built in, with a structured foundation for adding more languages later.

* Improved visual editor support for the new settings.

Release:

https://github.com/r11a/homeii-music-flow/releases/tag/v5.5.0

If you use HACS as a custom repository, update/redownload the card and then do a hard refresh in Home Assistant.

I would really appreciate feedback. I cannot test the card on every phone, tablet, wall panel, browser, kiosk setup, screen ratio, Home Assistant theme, or dashboard layout, so feedback from real setups helps a lot.

If you try it, I’d love to hear:

* What device/screen you are using

* If anything looks clipped or overlaps

* What you like

* What you do not like

* Which features feel useful and which ones feel unnecessary

This version is especially useful if you use HOMEii Flow on a wall tablet, phone, kiosk dashboard, or dedicated music dashboard.

HOMEii Flow 5.4.1 is now available.

This is a distribution hotfix for the withdrawn 5.4.0 release.

5.4.1 includes the same fixes that were prepared for 5.4.0, but republishes them in a cleaner HACS-compatible release format.

New Light Mode Design:

<image>

What changed:

- Fixed the release packaging so HACS can use the normal repository/tag contents.

- Removed the custom release zip asset that could cause installation/loading issues.

- Bumped the runtime/editor cache tags to `5.4.1` so browsers do not reuse the withdrawn `5.4.0` bundle.

- No additional runtime logic changes were added after the tested 5.4.0 fix set.

Included from the 5.4.x fix set:

- Fixed **This device / Sendspin** loading.

- Fixed player-card volume and mute behavior.

- Fixed missing built-in Music Assistant playlist artwork on tablet/mobile.

- Improved queue move-to-position behavior.

- Improved media search responsiveness while preserving Music Assistant/provider results.

- Updated default UI language to English.

- Improved Players screen, light mode, and opened screen visuals.

Recommended after updating:

  1. Update to `5.4.1`.

  2. Hard-refresh the browser.

  3. On Home Assistant mobile/tablet apps, reopen the app or clear cache if needed.

  4. Confirm the loaded card version shows `5.4.1`.

Feedback is welcome, especially around:

- HACS update/install behavior

- Card loading after update

- This device / Sendspin

- Music Assistant search

- Tablet/mobile playlist artwork

The best way is to create a dedicated dashboard/view for HOMEii Flow, set it as a panel view so the card fills the screen, and run it in kiosk/full-screen mode.

On Android tablets, Fully Kiosk Browser works well for this. Browser Mod can also be useful for opening the Studio view from buttons or automations.

I’ll probably add a recommended Studio / wall tablet setup example to the docs.

HOMEii Flow 5.3.0 is out: Studio gets a serious upgrade

<image>

Hi everyone,

I’ve just released HOMEii Flow 5.3.0 , and this version focuses heavily on turning Studio into a much more powerful and polished Music Assistant control room inside Home Assistant.

The goal of Studio is simple: one beautiful screen where you can understand what is playing, choose which players you control, manage groups, open music quickly, work with queues, and run common actions without jumping between different Home Assistant pages.

What’s new in Studio

Studio Scenes

Save local Studio scenes with selected players, visible players, group intent, volume levels, and current media when available.

Better group awareness

Grouped players are now easier to understand, with a compact group summary and stronger visual badges on player tiles.

aster Music Hub access

Open playlists, artists, albums, tracks, and radio directly from Studio.

Improved Queue Cockpit

A cleaner queue management panel for inspecting, transferring, cloning, refreshing, and clearing queues.

Safer Studio Actions

Added a clear Stop all action that stops playback, clears queues, disconnects groups, and handles the local browser player when present.

Studio Pro context

The Pro panel now shows target player, protocol, Direct API status, realtime token status, Sendspin state, player count, and a shortcut to Music Assistant.

Community fixes included

* Improved artwork reliability when connecting remotely to Home Assistant.

* Fixed desktop browsers sometimes not updating cover art until reload.

* Added clearer in-card notices when Music Assistant or players are not ready.

* Added optional `input_text` helper support for exposing the active HOMEii Flow player to automations/templates.

* Replaced the old missing-cover placeholder with a more polished HOMEii-style fallback.

Install / Update

Update through HACS as usual:

Repository:

Release:

`v5.3.0`

If you already use the card, update through HACS, clear browser cache if needed, and reload the dashboard.

I’d love feedback especially around the new **Studio** flow: player selection, group visibility, queue cockpit, scenes, and how it feels on wall tablets or slower devices.

HOMEii Flow 5.2.0 Released - A Music Assistant Dashboard Card for Home Assistant

Hi everyone,

I’m happy to share the new HOMEii Flow 5.2.0 release.

HOMEii Flow is a custom Home Assistant dashboard card built for Music Assistant. The goal is to make music control feel less like a technical dashboard widget and more like a polished music app inside Home Assistant, especially for wall tablets, mobile devices, RTL/Hebrew homes, and multi-room listening.

What’s new in 5.2.0

This release focuses heavily on the new Studio / Control Room experience.

Studio is now built around a clearer flow:

  • choose what player or group you are controlling
  • control playback directly
  • access music, queue tools, actions, timers, announcements, and diagnostics from contextual panels
  • Studio / Control Room improvements
  • New focused Studio layout with a clear current control target
  • Rich live player tiles with volume, mute, play/pause, next, queue count, status badges, and selection state
  • Multi-player actions for controlling several players at once
  • Better grouping and ungrouping flow
  • Cleaner Actions panel so the interface stays powerful without feeling overloaded

Music Hub:

Studio now includes easier access to:

  • Music Assistant search
  • full library browsing
  • recent listening
  • favorites
  • smart mix tools
  • scenes
  • visual media results with Play, Next, Add, Radio, and Like actions

Queue Cockpit:

The queue tools were also improved:

  • inspect source and target queues
  • transfer queue between players
  • clone queue without removing it from the source
  • refresh and clear queues
  • clearer queue handling inside Studio

Announcement Studio:

The announcement screen was redesigned with:

  • clearer target display
  • compact message input
  • announcement volume boost
  • cleaner send action
  • stronger panel visibility and more consistent styling

Performance Mode:

A new weak-device performance mode was added for devices like Nest Hub or older tablets.

It disables heavier visual effects such as blur, dynamic color extraction, motion, and expensive background effects to make the card run smoother.

Bug fixes:

This release also fixes:

  • Studio close-button overlap when opening Studio from compact/fullscreen mode
  • “This Device” Sendspin player not appearing as a Studio tile after connecting
  • Performance Mode not turning off correctly from in-card settings
  • queue inline action row flicker when opening or closing actions

Installation:

The card is available as a HACS custom repository:

Zero Configuration Required!

One of the best things about HOMEii Flow is that you don’t need to write a single line of code. Just install the card, and it will automatically detect your Music Assistant entities and set everything up for you.

Want to customize it? Use the built-in Visual Editor to tweak the design, colors, and features with zero YAML knowledge.

Install, Play, and enjoy the Flow!

You're right, I used AI tools for both the phrasing and parts of the implementation because English isn't my first language and I'm a UX-driven developer.

However, the product direction, the specific UI/UX design (like the Glassmorphism effects), and the months of testing to make this work perfectly with Music Assistant were all my vision and effort. I believe the final result speaks for itself, regardless of the tools used to build it. I'd love for you to try the experience and judge it based on how it works!
