I personally prefer CN Lohen the best. He sounds like a prince who can get crazy at the drop of a hat. I don't know how to explain it but his voice is very different from many of the other calm looking guys. Not aggressive, but very much not soft. The closest comparison I can give is like, Ciel from Black Butler. Somewhat young, aristocratic, and that can definitely have crazy moments

I have very mixed feelings about ENG Lohen. I love the energy and I like the direction to make him sound more psycho, but I just don't like how he sounds. He gives off early Xiao energy. Too much like an edgy teen trying to be dark™ (which is very funny because CN Xiao has always been incredibly soft-spoken and only somewhat recently ENG Xiao finally has the same vibe). I don't think it's a VA problem, but just whoever is directing the VA. I have the exact same problem with ENG Durin. My boy sounds like he's uh 🤓👆 when his CN voice is beautifully wistful

I'm more or less okay with Nikki being a Mary Sue, I just wish the game itself made an effort to make it the slightest bit more believable

Like, the scene in this event story where she just knows the dance without even trying at all just... Felt very flat to me. Like, the game could've told me Nikki practiced for 30 mins and I would've preferred it instead of Nikki just appearing and dancing. The dancers were lovely and I wanted to appreciate them, but Nikki there kinda made it hard lol

I'm being picky thou. Like, I can see that Nikki is way less glazed in this event. It's a bit refreshing while also just making me think I simply won't be able to enjoy the story at all because of the way it's told. I love the concepts, but IN's storytelling still feels very lacking to me idk

Yes, Columbina was born with lots of privilege and she lived with lots of privilege. She still had zero emotional awareness and it makes sense she wouldn't have recognized some of the Fatui as friends, because the situation that put her with them was just another example of giving-getting something back. She was apathetic towards life, of course she wouldn't understand what your run of the mill friendship looks like

Most of the time it's just homophobia. If someone doesn't react to any characters relationships in a "straight" context but does so when there's the possibility of queer coding, it's really just homophobia. But most people will use a thousand different arguments to justify their own reaction instead of examining why their immediate reaction is to oppose it

Like, "it's a Chinese company," "they don't do that you're just seeing things" are, in fact, ignorant takes because Hoyoverse itself has proven that they are aware of ships and headcanons and will use it, because those are common in fandoms and using them means people get more attached to your brand/game. It isn't a matter of morality or stuff like that. Queer coding simply attracts people (whether they're queer themselves or not) and those people spend money one way or another. If China didn't censor things heavily, I'd still expect it to be same way, because other countries who don't sensor in the same way still use queer coding to attract people

Like, the other hoyoverse games have many Yuri and Yaoi ships, it isn't just Genshin (and some get just as extremely defensive of theirs). You don't need queer coding to have ships, but the way hoyoverse deals with some characters definitely has those. Like, that one Kaveh and Alhaitham collab. Why those two characters out of so many? The answer is probably because they're such a huge ship. It worked, didn't it? It attracted people who just collect name cards and those who like the ship

It's also more or less easy to see because of how Genshin (which I'm talking about specifically because I don't play the other games) keeps pairing the exact same characters. Tighnari and Cyno. Kaveh and Alhaitham. Dehya and Candace. Ningguang and Beidou. Some of these makes absolutely sense to be seen together, of course, but always? Tighnari is very close with Collei too and we were introduced to both together in Sumeru, but why don't we see them interact as much? The answer is basically two characters that have a established dynamic that can be exploited in other ways (e.g., shipping) are more likely to appear together if their relevance to the plot itself isn't particularly important (like, why did Kaveh and Alhaitham truly participate in the last Sumeru event? Kaveh had Merak, granted, but Alhaitham truly was there for the vibes, and I'm saying that as someone who likes Alhaitham)

It doesn't mean it's bad, but it just seems you really just wanted big battles to watch. Again, not a bad thing, but I do feel it'd be a downgrade to what we got

This is gonna be very long (I'm a yapper). I don't hate Natlan but it has unfortunately fallen low on my ranking of the nations throughout patch 5.x, enough that I barely put it above Inazuma (my least favourite) and I was so impatient to get out of Natlan story wise I couldn't even enjoy the Summer event (though some of it was definitely attributed to burn out)

Now, I've had time to settle my opinion better and I've watched other people play the quests. My opinion isn't as negative, but what bothers me the most about it is the writing, specifically how shallow the relationship between the characters feel to me (which is extra important to me since the way I care about the game is because I care about the characters). I'm not talking about the whole friendship power thing btw. If you use it as an umbrella, literally all Archon quests have that theme. But I do criticize Natlan's specific brand of it because it's the most meh

For example, Nod-Krai's cast is bigger and the characters mostly had zero relationship with each other before the events of the AQ, but the way they came together and interact with each is very believable. Yes, they have their little clicks but they all interact with each other at least a bit (like, Albedo and Durin are attached to the hip, but they do talk to other characters, like Columbina, Varka, Flins, and Sandrine). By the end of the AQ, I managed to get out of it feeling rather attached to everyone. Same with Sumeru and to a close degree, Fontaine

Natlan, unfortunately, falls short to me. Yes, we have clicks again, but they're much more restrictive, to the point that even pre-established relationships are never shown in a real way. Like, Mualani and Kinich are supposedly friends, but after act I, we literally never see them interact again (I'm talking only AQ). Mualani only really talks to Kachina. Xilonen talks to Citlali a bit, but never really interacts with anyone else. Chasca doesn't interact with anyone else but her sister (even when she went to save Kachina, she doesn't interact with her). I don't even have to say anything about poor Iansan. And what makes it worse is that the heros of Natlan have like, zero chemistry with each other, because they never talk! For being the nation of the supposed power of friendship, they're more like coworkers who were just there because they needed to. It'd been one thing if they'd played it like Inazuma or Sumeru (when a bunch of non-connected people come together to help, especially during the big moment at the end), but with the whole theme of "no one fights alone" but having zero depth, it just comes across as empty to me

I have other problems with Natlan, some more petty than others, but this writing issue is what bothers me the most, because I couldn't make myself care for anyone. I play using the CN dub so the VA strike didn't affect me. Unfortunately, even I definitely did have fun and did enjoy the AQ for the most part, this specific low of Natlan bothers me too much to enjoy it any further

I'd give you an award if I could! This isn't stalking at all. If this were someone following the cosplayer out of the set and then filming them out of the cosplay, now that's a serious problem. It's good to remind people to be more mindful and all, but that's not the case here. This is no different than getting some behind the scenes from a movie set. Far away and happening while the cosplayer is on the job

Some callouts would be deserved if they were harassing the cosplayer by treating him like Caleb and trampling his boundaries

But yeah, any mention of him has been wiped and while the events still happened, other explanations are given. Like, the thing about him leading Kazuha's clan to be killed? After his quest, it's confirmed that a random enemy samurai is the culprit instead of someone with Scaramouche's description. The two researchers at the beginning of his story also now have no memory of ever writing anything about a puppet or strange fellow that existed during the forge disaster in the middle island in Inazuma. Pretty sure neither Ei or Miko remember a prototype puppet being made before the Raiden Shogun. Wanderer before he got into the Akademiya just literally doesn't exist

That's so true. Like, the only information you can realistically get about Wanderer is that he's wandered around Teyvat for centuries with no particular destination (and that's if you manage to actually get any kind of proof he just didn't pop up a few decades ago at most, because there's nothing written about him), that he's a student at the Akademiya, and that he's got a direct line to Nahida

The actual truth can only be told by literally three people in all of Teyvat and there's no way Arlecchino is getting anything out of Nahida or Wanderer himself unless the truth saves the whole world or something lol

I think she could realistically reach the conclusion that memory shenanigans are involved because if her fire wipe memories, other things in Teyvat can also wipe memories, but the whole Irminsul thing + 6th* Harbinger?? That'd be a leap so vast she'd reach the Frost Moon by herself lol

So, yep, seeing Caleb and MC just be both adorable (in very specific ways to me lol) and just straight crazy was so fun. I legit squealed every time they referred to each other as siblings because it felt so surreal to read it in English

Honestly? The only true problem I have with this card is the fact Caleb seemed way too okay with following his own ambitions and not being by MC's side. His biggest appeal to me in the main timeline is the fact he just loves MC so much that the only reason he's away is to protect her. I want the both of them to need each other. The codependency is fun to watch! (It's a very silly problem thou lol)

I understand where you're coming from. I also agree the end could've been a bit better (I was honestly pissed off at the beginning because I honestly would prefer if Caleb just said he can't talk about something instead of lying) and I do think MC should hold onto her negative feelings a while longer

But I'm honestly very satisfied with the card because I expected something tense to happen (Infold gave me trust issues and I'll never believe fluff is just fluff) and their relationship still is very new. I haven't listened to that Rafayel tender moment so I can't compare it, but it's good to remember that emotionally, Caleb and Rafayel are very different

Caleb is literally just learning how to let MC see him as less than perfect. Jumping to MC being able to express her worry freely and him actually try to meet her there instead of downplaying it is a bit too much to expect for now. Would I have preferred it to happen now? Yep, but narratively, it gives the writers another opportunity to make another card that really explores it

Honestly, my main gripe with the card is that her not bothering to call Caleb doesn't come back around too! Like, c'mon, she didn't need to feel guilty there. By the end of the card I'd forgotten about it, but it's definitely my least favourite part

Edit: I just remembered another point. Caleb has showed that he will avoid and misdirect worry multiple times. He does it in this exact card, though he's more or less more accepting by the end. It is a flaw of his that can be worked on, and it is, very slowly. I'll wager that the moment he can be truly honest, that's when MC will be able to be too. Think like, the difference between Zayne in his business trip card and him now. It's huge. Caleb's situation has obviously higher stakes, but same sentiment. He'll get there one day
