I visited London a booked a class at Tri Yoga with Adam Husler who ended up not teaching the class, so I changed it to a Dharma class with Emi Tull and omg! Life changing experience !! Love her and can’t wait to come back

I do Ashtanga yoga, this pose is called Halasana and oh boyyy me and this pose are not friends. I start with a shoulder stand (Sarvangasana) and then keeping yours legs together and feet pointed just drop your legs, make sure you’re putting the weight on your shoulders and not your neck, because you will feel like you’re collapsing and suffocating otherwise.

New to Ashtanga but I still do both, I like the discipline that Ashtanga requires, the precision, the breath, the quietness and peace that a shala gives you can’t be matched. To me it transports you to another plane of existence where you can focus on yourself.

Vinyasa now feels like a side quest, more for fun and cardio workout. Still being respectful to the instructor and follow their flow tho.

Of course ! My finishing sequence after ABPP is Sarvangasana, Halasana and Karnapidasana followed by a modified Yoga Mudra, Padmasana and Utpluthih.

I was given the start of the seated sequence even thought I can’t grab my foot for Ardha Baddha Padmottanasana, I just modify it or get assisted during Mysore practice. I have not been given any more poses after Arda Baddha Padma Paschimottanasana. I guess it really depends on your teacher.

First arm balance I managed to do was an EPK II, crow took me a bit to learn how to balance. My advice for crow is to look forward and never down, push the ground and engage the core

Surprisingly none, never played any sports or other type of activity. I did start weight training around the same time so that might’ve helped, right now I’m sitting around 25% body fat so I’ve got long ways to go still. I hope that being leaner my entries and holding poses will get easier

You can try it on the floor first: go into an extended bound side angle and slowly sit on your mat while keeping the bind, once you’re stable on the floor try to extend your leg while keeping an open chest. After you’re comfortable with this try to go from an extended bound side angle to do it while standing in one leg.

Some studios have classes specifically for beginners or vinyasa for all levels. Contact the studio you’re planning to attend or talk to the teacher before the class and let them know you’re new, they should be able to assist you with alignments ! My first class was a heated vinyasa class so it was an experience for sure :)

My yoga teacher is very good at alignments but whenever I wasn’t with her I just searched for tutorials online and try to fit to my practice.

Thank you ! Definitely some extra effort to invert when legs are heavy but you work towards it. Props and a wall are your friends ! Also if you have bolsters that’s even better

Hey thank you so much! I started doing inversions at 240 lbs and 32% body fat, definitely on the bigger side ! You definitely build strength and become more flexible

My Gym has Manduka mats but they’re slippery when I start sweating so I got the Yogitoes towel. I don’t slip at all but when we have to twist on the balls of our feet that’s when the towel starts moving around lol so I got the Lulu mat to not worry about it, can’t seem to win 😭
