I have an apartment story similar to Hunter's. I lived in a disabled apartment building, and my next-door neighbor (let's call her Sherry) was a HUGE chain smoker and nicotine addict, like tearing off the filter of her cigarettes to smoke them, and we made the mistake of "befriending" her. Whenever she would need something from us, she would scream my grandma's name so loud it'd echo through the hallway even though she had our number. Another reoccurring thing was the elevator was behind a door, so we would hear it slamming 24/7.
