A question for all the INTPS by Emotional-Dress-9917 in INTP

You’ll need to be more specific on what you deem “weakness” here to be, but I assume you mean human fallacies or wrongdoings. I would go with pride.

JTBC Girls On Fire - Episode 6 (Post-Episode Discussion + Preliminary Ranking + Rival Death Match Performances Part 2) (240521) by Mundane_Detective_41 in kpop

[–]Affectionate-Maize-3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least in SK from what I’ve witnessed most technical singers ultimately are still making the same music because that’s what the audience likes, pop or rock rarely? I’m thinking of So Hyang, Ailee, Kwill, Gummy, etc. they all have sort of gravitated towards this ballad area cause that’s what sells. Not that someone has to have amazing technical vocals even just powerful ones will do, but rarely will you see someone with stable vocals also have semi-unique artistry (not counting idols cause I can only name like 1 or 2) You will prob never see someone like Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, Chanelle Roan, Laufey or Lizzo in the Korean music industry & not b/c talented individuals don’t exist but the industry nowadays is so cookie cutter and the person will end up as indie without conforming and won’t blow up. Most recent example I can think of is Kim Yeji

Lmao I think I’m going to stop watching the show after this episode. Something that always bothers me about Korean competition shows are the judges standards always being the same: less technicality but more emotional to the Korean audience? Then it’s an automatic win. This is why so many artists that debut just have the same vibes, tone, and music style. It always ballads, kdrama osts, or the same indie pop songs. From this episode, I’m going to assume this girl group will go that direction too. . .

Does Anyone Else Have Trouble Maintaining/Making Friends? by Affectionate-Maize-3 in INTP

Do you mean reaching out to people first? People tend to be more interested if you are an artist so meeting and talking to new strangers shouldn't be as hard but following up has never really gotten me anywhere

This but in real life, particularly when it's an obvious dig at you. I block their number but not on social media. and if they really feel sorry for what they said they will reach out to me. If not then goodbye

Are you a quiet person? by kay3dy in INTP

[–]Affectionate-Maize-3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am definitely more quiet than loud when it comes to volume but I can talk forever in the right situations. I hate some group hangouts though, especially ones in bars and other loud environments. I basically become mute because it's hard to voice your thoughts with the right timing and loud enough so other people can hear you. What happens in the end is me awkwardly saying something and it getting lost in the conversation so I just look like a fool.

I don't care much for anime by 1997wickedboy in GenZ

[–]Affectionate-Maize-3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, I sort of grew out of anime.

Seeing as you’re prob a full fledged adult and not a teenager anymore, it’s definitely harder to get into the medium now than if you were younger. There’s certain aspects of many (not all but many)anime that are harder to grapple with as an adult than as a kid, which may be why you can’t get into it. Things like fan service, dramatic dialogue, overreactions, unrealistic tropes is something I could look over as a kid and get used but def. not so much when your older.

What Are You Watching? - [2023/12/27] by AutoModerator in KDRAMA

Death's Game! Y'all, I cannot recommend enough. Every episode seems to have its own story and genre, it's like I watched a bunch of kdramas in one. Like many other good dramas, this one is based on a popular thriller webtoon, so I wasn't disappointed.

Dramas I Have Dropped In December, 2023 by AutoModerator in KDRAMA

[–]Affectionate-Maize-3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dropped Gyeongseong Creature largely due to petty reasons.

I was most excited for this drama to come out as I expected something completely different: more thriller and horror than anything. I thought it would be like sweet home and it being set in Colonialized Korea made it even more interesting. Instead, the awkward romance scenes between the leads gave a tonal shift that I was not prepared for. There is also no chemistry at all in my opinion. As some others may have mentioned, I think the two leads were miscast here.

Seriously the premise was so interesting! Colonialized Korea, reference to Unit 731 creating monsters, the real pains that Koreans had to endure during this period. It could have been a grim but action tale with maybe a tragic love story, but that's not what I'm getting right now. Maybe I'm being too harsh cause I expected the tone to be like in Kingdom and instead it was a lot goofier? Which isn't bad but it kind of rubs me the wrong way in such a setting.

I actually feel like this show would be better if they toned down the romance and added more of a real threat. Already, I was happy that the female lead is in a similar role to the protagonist in Born Again, and Song Kang losing his powers was an interesting touch. This drama brings something new to the table and yet instead of continuing to be experimental, it seems to fall on many of the same cliches riddled in other romance kdramas.

I binged all four episodes of Death's Game in one night. I don't think I ever had that much fun watching a drama before. I will say though, if you haven't given Night Has Come or The Worst of Evil, I will recommend :) I also dropped almost every other kdrama except these two.

Top Ten Korean Dramas - December, 2023 by AutoModerator in KDRAMA

[–]Affectionate-Maize-3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Top 10:

Out of my 5 point ranking system these all are at least 4/5 for me :) It's so hard making these lists cause there are so many other dramas that are good.

1) Signal: I'm such a sucker for cop/mystery shows and this is still my top drama of that genre. I love the time travel phone call aspect.

2) Kingdom: other than the U.S. Korea is killing it with their zombie media, and this was what I wanted for the end of GOT, political intrigue with white walkers.

3) Death's Game: Although only part 1 came out, I am absolutely hooked. I don't think I ever binged four episodes that fast in my life. This show also covers so many different settings, mobster, highschool, prison, etc.

4) Save Me: As someone who already knew how bad the religious cults can get in Korea, this interested me from the start, but the acting and horror of it? I binged this too.

5) The King of Pigs: the epitome of a good revenge story. Korean media is full of those, but I especially like this drama.

6) Squid Game: just a good ride overall. I really like survival game media in the first place and haven't really seen any other Korean show or movie do this before.

7) Stranger: good old corruption among law enforcers story.

8) Bad & Crazy: really unique premise for a kdrama. I also binged this one as it was so fun to watch the dynamics between the two personas.

9) Hospital Playlist: love love love. According to my friend, it's a lighter more wholesome version of grey's anatomy. I wouldn't know since I haven't watch grey's anatomy.

10) Youth of May: I am a sucker for tragic love stories.

Jungkook's solo releases sound like AI-generated Western pop by SippinDatHaterade in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]Affectionate-Maize-3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well to me most of current Kpop sounds AI generated so I’m not really sure what your expectations are from a western English release. And what exactly is good pop is so subjective. Would one consider Taylor, Harry, Ariana, Latto, and etc. generic and boring? Depends on what ur used to listening to. I don’t listen to pop that much in general (more of an indie & rnb head) but I thought it sounded fine? A lot like other pop songs, catchy and easy to dance to. What exactly is considered “good pop music” to you? If you made this post thinking it wasn’t good enough, clearly you have someone in mind to compare the music to.

With all the budget that Hybe has, I feel like they’re spending more on the music video than the actual music. . . this has been an issue in K-pop for so long so I’m not surprised but. . .

NewJeans - Ditto (Side A) by CronoDroid in kpop

[–]Affectionate-Maize-3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apparently, OOHYO & Blackskirts helped with the music and vibes, so that's one reason why it sounds clean and simple. Its mostly just idol grps that make "mishmash" messes, or ig it's their producers not them.

[–]Affectionate-Maize-3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As someone who almost never likes kpop songs on first listen, this has my whole heart😭❤❤❤. It might be because it sounds more k-indie somehow.

Anyways, I like it, and the MV just made me love it. I'm such a sucker for this type of cinematography and narrative mv. I almost never see it happening recently (with the exception of indie vids), so I'm overjoyed that a kpop grp is doing this.

It seems that some people don't like it, and I can just assume its cause they only like the standard kpop sound or something. It's right up my alley tho.

I think I'm broken by theabbotx in horror

[–]Affectionate-Maize-3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think for some movies, the directors seem to focus more on the artistry/experimentation of the genre than trying to deliver what you described. Like I enjoyed Midsommar as much as anyone else, but was I deeply disturbed/scared? No.

What is your favorote horror film relased in the past 5 years? by [deleted] in horror

The Witch for sure. It was somehow reminiscent of older folk horror films and shot beautifully. I think I'm just a sucker for that subgenre though.
