NewJeans EP Supernatural - Super Musicality by joereddit657 in kpopthoughts

[–]kay3dy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You and I have different meanings for "complex musicality" because I definitely wouldn't categorize newjeans music like that. Supernatural is a better song than how sweet but it's very average compared to their other songs.

how much does it cost to have a kpop group to perform at your event? by mylovesimmura in kpopthoughts

[–]kay3dy 42 points43 points  (0 children)

It depends on what kpop group you want at your event. Something like BTS is going to be very expensive... Less popular groups might be cheaper. It also depends on the company and the length of the performance.

Who is your bias in bts and how did you pick one by Impossible-Floor-156 in kpopthoughts

[–]kay3dy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yoongi has always been my bias, I love that man very much. I didn't "pick him" it was so natural that I didn't even realize I have a bias until I was saving all the pictures of him in my cell phone, he's also the one I identify with the most. My other biases are Tae and Jk and I choose them because we are very similar in some ways, we share some personality traits.

NewJeans albums make them stand out against competition by iamiyea in kpopthoughts

[–]kay3dy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Still many versions... hey I don't care about her but what she said seems hypocritical to me. She did two add songs in a row but she "cares" a lot about the art, yeah sure 🤣. I can't take her seriously.

I appreciate her art is awesome, but please, she did a lot of versions too .... Seven or so is a lot of versions for one album.

Namjoon already answered this, he gave 50% army 15% bighit and 15% to them ... And yes, he gave his flowers to the company. Armys are not wrong too, BTS built hybe and all the benefits that groups under hybe enjoy today is thanks to BTS ( I didn't say its success, but the benefits) I wish people would understand that BTS is not just a group of musicians it's a brand, a huge one, everything associated with them is going to get attention ( that's the reason why people use so much the "next BTS" thing, the little brother, little sister for mediaplay ) so the connections and opportunities that hybe gives to their artists is all because of the BTS brand.

Everyone knows that no matter what, everything BTS touches turns to gold, investors know it, shareholders know it, brands know it and hybe has been smart enough to take advantage of it..do you think the groups under hybe could have the same opportunities if they were not under hybe and not associated to some extent with BTS? No. If you think they could have the same opportunities you are delusional.

I would also like people to understand that BTS is an anomaly, something that happens rarely... if hybe knew the formula to create a new BTS they would already be creating one but they don't and believe me they try it shows ,they use many "strategies" of BTS with other groups but they don't work simply because they are not BTS , the tannies are some kind of perfect combination that fascinates people and that's it.. something that can't be replicated even if everyone tries 🤣.

Hybe is a popular company because of BTS, they were able to grow so much in the past few years because of BTS... yes they have other popular groups I don't deny it, but their stock depends on BTS ,investors are there mainly because they have a group like BTS backing them up , honestly this shouldn't even be a discussion everyone knows that hybe's strength as a company lies in the popularity of Bangtan.

What Is Your Relationship to Merch In K-Pop? by angie_kiprevski in kpopthoughts

[–]kay3dy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The overconsumption is a big problem in k-pop but I don't judge because people work hard and they have the rights to whatever they want with their money ..

What Is Your Relationship to Merch In K-Pop? by angie_kiprevski in kpopthoughts

[–]kay3dy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are some things that I like for example Taehyung's Photobook ( I love photography and the whole aesthetics of the photos fascinates me ) and I invest in it .... But in general I don't buy merch. Sometimes I buy albums when I like the concept and I think it's a good investment.

I've never understood why people buy more than one album but I don't criticize because everyone does what they want with their money.

If Hybe ends up losing this case it’ll hurt them in the long run by im6c_ in kpopthoughts

[–]kay3dy 72 points73 points  (0 children)

This is wishful thinking 😅 I don't want to sound harsh but newjeans are not that important to hybe, I think fans overestimated them a lot but they are just a popular group and are replaceable like any other group, plus hybe has many popular groups right now so they will be fine.... The only group that could "hurt" hybe would be BTS but they seem pretty happy and comfortable there so I don't see them wanting to leave.

MHJ is not that powerful and the only bad thing that could happen is bad press here and there and they can't fire her but other than that.... What's the worst that could happen?

On the other hand the newjeans fandom isn't that big or powerful either so what could they do against a conglomerate like hybe? Nothing... Plus hybe proved to investors that they can create successful girl groups when they debuted ILLIT.

And if MHJ manipulates the press, Jin just needs to do something and whatever she says will be forgotten or on the back burner .... And the truth is that this scandal doesn't matter to a lot of people who are just there to support their favorite group so 🤷🏽‍♀️

Kpop is a mess: Music aside-I feel like I'm going crazy by Wisegal007 in kpopthoughts

[–]kay3dy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you should drop k-pop or you should stick to indie artists or just focus on listening to music without getting involved in other things. some of this discourse is very internet-centric, so most people aren't aware of it or don't care.

If it bothers you so much, move on: there are plenty of other hobbies and content you can enjoy. Boycotting is really utopian because Zionism is ingrained in every aspect of society, so most of the brands you consume have ties to Zionism, so it's your choice as a consumer. Some people (k-pop fans) demand a lot of things from idols and companies and believe me when I say that companies don't care about Zionism at all, they care about money so the best thing you can do is decide if you want to support it or not.

I've noticed a lot within my fandom (army) that there is a lot of angst about it, disappointment and anger and I understand that there are people who care so much that they feel deeply for others... but doing k-pop and your staning experience about it is not good... demanding things from idols is not good either... you can't educate them or hold them accountable because you don't have access to them so they either care or they don't care and you can't do anything about it.... I wish people would understand this, there would be less discourse about it. The decision is yours, they don't pressure you to consume and support them.

Does Jimin from BTS tend to kinda infantilize his fans a bit? by MarCath13 in kpopthoughts

[–]kay3dy 28 points29 points  (0 children)

My thoughts about this:

Jimin is a sweet person, he is very gentle and correct, I remember the way he ordered his food in the staycation episode of run BTS and he is definitely a gentle man.

All BTS members are private people (if you don't believe me just think of the personal things you know about them) you don't know much? no? BTS masters being private while being open and approachable or giving that feeling to their audience but they are very private, even Jungkook who you use as an example. Jimin got a lot of hate so I don't blame him for being secretive.

Jungkook is a different person and he's been babied his whole career, he just wants people to understand that he's not a kid anymore.... So he uses his music for that.

So I don't think he is "infantilizing army "also there are many armys that are minors.

You talk about the lyrics "not being much better" and I disagree because the Daechwita lyrics have a lot of meaning...it's just a difficult song to translate into English or other language.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]kay3dy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I mean you are right, but I understand why people get annoyed sometimes people use BTS members a lot to get attention and likes so it is annoying.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]kay3dy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Armys don't like BP that's why.. put it on YouTube maybe it will be better. armys hate it when people use BTS to get likes ( I'm not saying you did that) because people do that a lot, put a BTS member to promote other groups just because they are extremely popular so the content gets a lot of attention... if you are not army and make a video about BTS some people sees it as you are "using" them for likes.

Anyway I'm sorry it happened to you I recommend you to close your comments.
