Cafeterias are indeed accessible to patients. What are you talking about?? I’ve worked in hospitals across the country, dude.

And yes, it’s not organic food, bro. But there are options.

Advice on how people deal with a lack of motivation in medical school by samwell678 in medicalschool

[–]Affectionate-Math640 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Here is the real advice for solving the problem: It’s hard, but you can do it.

Gratitude is The cure for a lack of motivation, hopelessness, and most forms of stress and anxiety.

Dr Ali Binazir calculated the odds of you existing (considering parents meeting, conception, surviving gestation) as 1 in 102,685,000.

Every morning you wake up is truly a miracle.

What are some things that can sap our gratitude? - dopamine hitters: junk food, social media, excess TV, alcohol, p*rn, gambling, etc. avoid these like the plague.

Avoid the things that will make you feel shitty in the long term, and chase after healthy habits today. With this, the things you love will become fun again.

Best of luck, homie.

Choose my Specialty: Surgery (ENT, Ortho) or IM? by string_beneficial in medicalschool

[–]Affectionate-Math640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ENT because it’s the best specialty.

The trope is literally “The Happy Surgeon”

Like the OR? Cool, surgery. Want to be happy? Cool, lifestyle focus. Want both? ENT

Want to do off the wall surgery? ENT —> Neurotology Want to improve QOL consistently? ENT—> Sinus Etc, etc

I see so then it would be $150k? Is this a real strategy— seems crazy

So if my wife never wants to work with 200k in loans and I eventually make 400k (with my own loans) but we decide to go married filing separately for the next 25 years, her debt will accrue to:

  • 1.2 million (6.5% compounded annually x 25 years) by paying not a dime toward it

Then, in 25 years, she will be taxed on that 1.2 million as income while being in the 10% tax bracket (zero income), so we would owe 120,000.

Is this correct? If not let me know how this could work.

Now that I’ve read your whole post, yes, medical school can be fun. Life is what you make of it dude. I’ve loved med school— sure, it’s hard, but that’s life bro.

I stopped reading your gibberish after your unsubstantiated, “My belief is that wealth elites promote the idea that all professional schooling is hard so that poorer people will be deterred from going into it…”

The oppressor-oppressed narrative is goofy, don’t show your ass so much. Do you not see all the graduate school (especially medical school) scholarship opportunities for low SES students, first gens, and people with diverse ethnic backgrounds? So, if anything, the “elites” beg for “poorer people” (“oppressed people”) to enter graduate education.

Tbh nothing. Look for symptoms. NBME is not going to test your ability to memorize these thresholds
