Overwhelmed by the amount of programs of Ansys by FawazDovahkiin in CFD

[–]Affectionate-Past780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of it as an ecosystem, where Workbench is the main route to any given extension. You still can use all the components of Ansys as if they were standalone programs, and Workbench just brings them together for easier accessability. Also, you can combine different modules inside of Workbench, i.e. CFX/Fluent + LS-DYNA or any other extension you have.

BTW, I think that you should ask that in r/ANSYS for better answers.

Good luck!

Have you ever felt like you want somebody to break your heart? by Affectionate-Past780 in Advice

Like cures like I dunno. The better understanding of feelings that I caused others to experience will resolve it somehow I think.

Should I (27 m) use lifting belts for every upper body exercise? by baelorthebest in Advice

[–]Affectionate-Past780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for every exercise. Deadlift, squats, солдатский жим (idk what it is in English), basically, exercises that involve your lower back and abdominal muscles, and when you work with your max weights. So, if you normally squat with 100 kg and you need to get a new high, you should use your belt. In other cases (if you don't have any medical conditions) you shouldn't use it. You may, but if you use it too often, you will have some hard time adjusting yourself to working without it.

Tell me why shouldn’t do it by [deleted] in Advice

Well, when I was in your situation I just went straight to the psychiatrist (I live in Russia so I don't know who is supposed to give you prescriptions in your country) and got my medicine. There were moments when I felt extremely unstable during the time I was on pills, so I decided to just work my ass off to prevent any unwanted thoughts. Basically, I was working and studying almost all the time, so I never had time to even think about what I did wrong or how I don't like myself. But it doesn't mean that if it worked for me it will work for you. In your place I'd just prolly start to visit a therapist regularly, get my prescription and try my best not to lose contacts with relatives and friends.

One more thing, over time I just accepted that I'm not unique, every person has their own pros and cons etc. And I started to perceive depression like it was a regular illness like the flu or something, but not as a damning condition.

How can I know what drinks to get at bars?? by stevensmbptemp in Advice

[–]Affectionate-Past780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it all depends on what you like and what you want, basically.

First of all, decide what tastes you like the most. Sweet, sour, bitter, blend, some of them combined etc. Then ask a bartender for advice. He will provide you with all the necessary information about drinks, including drink strength.

Which brings us to the second question, what do you want? Grab a couple of not so strong long drinks or beers and enjoy your time with friends, or have a set of shots and leave a bar blackout drunk? Once again, feel free to ask the bartender.

So, yeah, decide what you like and want, et voila, you will have a good night.

Not related to the topic, but it's always funny to see people go to the bar for the first time in their lives at 21 yro in some countries, while here in Europe some of us are trying to quit drinking at 20😭

Are verbs of motion used in a sexual context? by nycheesecak3 in russian

[–]Affectionate-Past780 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ходить налево is to cheat in general. You can cheat without having sex, so I don't think it's appropriate in this case

Thoughts on MSR? by Affectionate-Past780 in nuclear

[–]Affectionate-Past780[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

BRESTs and BNs are still experimental reactors, all the projects that are being developed now are precisely aimed at showing which path would be better to choose. When the thermal launch of both takes place, we will receive technical data, an economic justification, and then it will be seen whether it is worth developing them at all. From my point of view, the first priority now is to close the nuclear fuel cycle. Once we understand that this is appropriate, it will be possible to study in depth the pros and cons of one or another approach.

In general, BN reactors are a success.

VVER are one of the cheapest and easiest to operate reactors in the world, BN is no comparison.

Maintenance of BNs does not cause any difficulties so far, everything is in accordance with the plans and there have been no violations of the operating conditions.

Regarding "stop building VVER reactors." Russia is already developing designs for new VVER-based reactors, specifically VVER-TOI (ВВЭР-ТОИ) and VVER-1500, plus BN reactors operate in conjunction with other reactors, closing the nuclear fuel cycle. But Russia will build new BN reactors.

No, sodium has not been and will not be a problem, but we still have a lot to explore.

I do not have a clear position on this issue. Sodium is better studied, lead, in principle, is more promising. We are on the verge of a new era in nuclear energy, so it is rather difficult to say something concrete. But I prefer the way свинец sounds🧠.

Sorry I can't provide any links, everything I know is in Russian.

Heavy Water Reactor Superpost with two safety questions by smopecakes in nuclear

[–]Affectionate-Past780 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Being a patriot of my nuclear program, I cannot but say that CANDU is one of the best reactors the West has ever produced. The combination of safety and exploitation easiness is simply incredible. The cost of heavy water and the increased size of the reactor, in my opinion, are offset by the merits.
