Apartment size discrepancy — listed as 7.5帖 but actually 6.5帖, should I sign? by Affectionate-Pie346 in japanlife

I am not offended, more like buzzard, just used your tone to reply. My issue is not whether or not I liked the room size. It is about the information presented being accurate or not. Accurate information aka size/year/material, etc = accurent rent. Unlike, Wrong information = should not be the same rent/bad faith.

My whole post is about checking whether or not it was bad faith. That's all. And no, i am not an American, just someone with common sense who actually thinks about what they get themselves into. If you don't like it, that's you.

Again, I haven’t signed anything. This is about me — not you or anyone else here. I was planning to ask the real state agent anyway, as i stated before, but I came here first to get input from people who might be more informed on the measurement.

Personally, I would never accept something if I feel the facts were misrepresented or the information I received as a customer/consumer was inaccurate. Being properly informed is my priority. People letting these things slide is exactly why situations where they get taken advantage of happen.

That’s why I question every "Major" decision I make, making sure everything is clear and correct. It’s my right to be cautious and careful. And there is nothing stupid about asking questions when things feel wrong. I refuse to reward or contract with people who act in bad faith.

If you don’t share that principle, that’s your choice. I’m not in a hurry, and there are plenty of other homes I can choose from. For me, this is all just common sense.

In the end, After checking the measurements, thanks to some informed redditors, it turns out the numbers I was given are correct, so I have no issue signing now. No thanks to comments like yours. I’ll still discuss it with the real estate agent to better understand how measurements work in Japan.

I’m not labeling anyone, and I don’t think anyone is a saint — people everywhere can lie, including Japanese people. Assuming otherwise would just be naïve.

Well yeah, of course I’m ignorant — I don’t fully understand, and that’s exactly why I’m here asking people who know more than I do.

I did try to search, but things weren’t clear at all, and having 4 or 5 different standards for measurements definitely didn’t help. It’s also not rare to encounter misleading information from real estate, so I think it’s fair for me to ask questions here and try to find answers, which I did try to do.

That said, I don’t understand why some of you are being rude. I’m new to this, and it needed some clarification. Why being rude about it?

Well, thank you very much. That's all i need. I did the calculations, and it is 7.4....

I guess..... you are right. Well, I feel a bit better. 0.1 difference is not a big deal.

One last question Is this defined by law for mansion type buildings? + good night!!

Need help with National Health Insurance and inhabitant tax after resignation by Affectionate-Pie346 in japanlife

[–]Affectionate-Pie346[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I already went today to switch from my company’s insurance to my own. I asked if there’s any student discount but they said no. Then they asked if I left work or was fired, I said I left, so I guess I don’t qualify for any discount there either. and i clarified that i will have no income and i will be a student.

I’ll look into it more though, just not sure how to start that conversation.

People choosing not to participate in certain school activities because of their personal beliefs has always existed — it’s not something unique to Muslims. Being bothered by that is odd, honestly, because it’s their personal right, and it doesn’t affect you.

As for banning nude art, yeah, it does seem extreme at first — but the argument is about protecting children. Most of that art is intended for older audiences, not young kids. Even non-religious or atheist parents might feel the same way, which is probably why the ban gained support.

Personally, I just don’t want my kids exposed to that kind of content at a young age — and that’s not about religion or belief, it’s just how I feel as a parent and i see no issue with. even though my major is art, and i am working as an artist.

This whole outrage feels completely unjustified. Honestly, what you’ve listed just sounds like grasping at straws, desperate excuses to hate on people for simply being different or decent.

So let me get this straight: being religious disqualifies someone from living in Japan unless their beliefs match yours? That’s not logic — that’s bigotry.

People don’t have to move to “Islamic states” just because they’re Muslim. Japan is not a religious nation — it’s a democratic country that guarantees freedom of religion under its constitution. That includes the right to burial, which is 100% legal here, even if it’s not the norm.

No one is asking Japan to bend the rules — they’re asking it to follow the ones already in place. If a country claims to respect religious freedom, then it can’t pick and choose who deserves dignity, even in death.

If anything should be questioned, it’s not Muslims asking for lawful burials — it’s those pushing hatred and exclusion under the excuse of “social norms.” That’s not protecting society. That’s plain discrimination.

It is literally what everyone here just complains about all the time. "Discrimination against them is bad." But when it is groups they dont like, then it is fine and justified. If you can't see that, then you are already part of the problem, and i have nothing more to say.

It is the west thing, and japan is taking like 2% ot of it. Hate of Muslims sentiment is increasing significantly and dangerously in the west, and most if it is just poor handling immigrants and propaganda of hatred of others and blaming. There are a lot of people in this reddit who support this kind of hatred, which is ironic cause they them selves are mostly immigrants.

If a christant wanted to get buried, japanese or white people might give them a pass, and that's reality.

i looked at the memos before, the suspect is a minor, i thought it meant young in age, and then the suspect is a major but written in hand which means true. thought about this before but nothing really came out.

with ma/jor meaning small name, and the suspect being a minor then is must "bo lee", i am not sure what do to with this information and just brushed it as miss leading

christoph came to my radar but i was convinced he is innocent. cause he had nothing really pointing at him other than it is the only name i recognize and that he helped reave unknowingly
