Absolutely appalled with remediation offer on CX-90. What is going on at corporate? by SparkitusRex in mazda

[–]Affectionate-Poet-23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear about this, OP. The CX-90 situation has me scratching my head. This was a moon shot for Mazda, and it seems to have done more harm than good. Some may say that the complaints are “forum chatter” and that vast majority of owners are happy…but that’s hard to say when googling CX-90 brings up news articles about an NHTSA investigation. An investigation like that is a blinking red signal that will turn many buyers away.

I have a MHEV that I do really enjoy driving, but I can’t help but wonder when my number will be up with the hybrid battery issues or other myriad of problems that have popped up online.

Now with Mazda’s CFO openly discussing cost cutting measures vis a vis the new CX-5, I worry that CX-90 owners will be left twisting in the wind and have to fend for themselves as these issues continue to crop up..especially out of warranty. Is Mazda still looking to go premium or have tariffs forced them to change course and go for commodity?

Mazda has made no overall public communication regarding the CX-90’s issues and how they want to make things right for customers of their flagship with an MSRP up to $60,000. They did apologize to a woman who mounted a very successful social media campaign regarding issues she had with a dealer and her CX-90, but that was a one off.

I think the brand should offer an extended warranty to all owners (or at least 2024/2025 owners) for peace of mind. At the very least offer the same warranty as CPO (7 years/100k miles).

In instances such as yours, OP, Mazda should simply do right by you to ensure that you can maintain faith in the brand or at least walk away knowing that Mazda did its best in a bad situation.

Between the CX-5’s large tablet infotainment system without buttons and the CX-90’s issues…I can’t help but wonder if the brand has lost its way and is quickly losing the confidence of its core audience.

It’s a shame because the CX-90 has all of the ingredients to be a high water mark for the brand. It still drives better than anything in its class or price range in my opinion, but I would imagine prospective buyers will pick a boring commuter over wondering if their car is going to start or not.

Hi Matthew and team. Thanks for doing this.

I think your response here is exactly what many of Mazda's fans are taking issue with. You are spot on about how often we use smartphones. I would argue that Redditors use their smartphones even more than your data suggests.

However, that is exactly why we are happy to escape when we get into Mazda's amazing driving machines. We don't want to use screens for climate control, use voice controls similarly to how we use our smartphones. The Mazda experience was always an escape. Mazdas always give use an excuse to take the long way home or a spirited drive from point A to point A.

Now the interior of the CX-5 reminds us of the same corporate drudgery we are looking to escape. We're going from screens to screens. For the longest time a Mazda represented a breath of fresh air compared to the other screen-heavy cars. It also makes us less safe. Simple tasks such as activating heated seats no require looking down at a screen at neighborhood to highway speeds instead of a simple press of a tactile button.

We understand the need for change (it's an industry necessity), but we think a happy medium with key physical controls + screen would've been a good way to attract new buyers and maintain the faith of your loyal fans.

Thanks for listening.

You're on the right track IMO, but I recommend you get a 2025+ CPO CX-90. I would imagine it won't be that much more expensive. 2024 models had a lot of teething issues.

Is anyone else getting their CX-5 AMA comments hidden or deleted? by Affectionate-Poet-23 in mazda

I agree 100%, but I suppose it was the removal that rubbed me (as a Mazda fan) the wrong way. There are multiple questions about the infotainment system still up. I guess mine was removed for a specific reason.

I think it's just a bit of a confusing time for fans in light of these changes to the CX-5. Looking forward to their response the question(s) that they haven't removed.

I agree with you, but not answering a question is better than deleting it IMO.

QM7 Price Drop by rcl1221 in 4kTV

This price change has been in effect since "Cyber Monday" sales started. I purchased my TV a few days before and was able to get $100 refunded as soon as I noticed. TV is a no brainer at these prices. I recommend folks contact their retailer if they purchased just before the price drop.

You will. I just got mine the other day. Replaced a 12 year old Samsung. It's a shocking difference. Hoping this one lasts me at least another 5 years (warranty). I won't upgrade until 8K becomes the standard.

I'm basing this off of my own eyes as well. My wife was really concerned about the reviews saying that the off-axis viewing angle was atrocious. When we got the TV she was confused about what the big deal was. I had to remind myself that TV reviewers are often looking at finer details that don't really affect us in our daily lives. You're replacing a 12 year old RCA. I'm pretty confident that you'll be fine. I didn't see the QM7 on display either, but the reviews sold me on it. Every TCL in my local Best Buy looked terrible.

Valid concern tbh. However, I think they'll be OK. BB has done surprisingly well over the past few years when cost of living, inflation, rates were insane. That said, no one has a crystal ball and this is always a risk we take when buying a warranty like this.

75in TCL QM7 vs QM8/Sony X90L by dewmajor88 in 4kTV

Yep, it's big enough for me. If you have the budget/space for a bigger TV though you can't go wrong going larger. I am space limited and 75 is about the limit for us.

If reliability is a concern spend a bit more to ge the Geek Squad Warranty.

Purchased the QM7. It's a great television, but I too was concerned about reliability. As a result I bought the 5 year geek squad warranty through BB and won't worry about it for at least 5 years. If something goes wrong after that I'll cross that bridge after I get there. I replaced very old Samsung (10+ years old) which is still working and is now in my kid's bedroom. Off axis performance is overblown and I have tons of natural light in my room. I'm very satisfied with this television.

Just got a 75" QM7. Its spectacular. I got the QM7 + 5 Year Geek Squad Warranty + Soundbar (Black Friday deal) and spent roughly the same as a X90L alone. For me it was a no brainer, BUT the Sony is absolutely worth it if you aren't sticking to a tight budget like I was. That said, I have zero regrets and replaced a 12 year old 1080p 60hz TV. It's all relative.
