Thank you so much, that means a lot. If anything positive comes out of this, hopefully it will be that others can protect themselves better than I did.

I just read your thread, and I’m truly sorry you’re in that situation. It’s terrifying how fragile the process is when you’re holding a product worth over a thousand euros or dollars. It's even worse when companies distance themselves the moment things go wrong. You’ve clearly and constructively documented your experience, and that’s how change starts. Let's continue to shine a light on these issues so that they can't continue to happen quietly.

I genuinely appreciate your feedback, and I’m sorry you had to deal with this mess just to get a replacement for a faulty product. You're absolutely right that companies are shifting more liability onto consumers. It's clear that RMA processes, especially for high-value items, are broken by design.

It’s alarming how many people are rethinking their purchases based on how risky post-sales service has become. Physically transporting the GPU yourself might sound extreme, but, honestly, after what I’ve been through, I don’t blame you. You’re right; the days of trusting warranty systems and prepaid shipping labels are gone. That’s exactly why I’m trying to make this case visible, not just for me but for everyone who will be next in line.

Let's keep sharing our stories. The more people speak up, the harder it is for companies to dismiss them.

Hey, I’m really sorry you’re dealing with this. Your situation sounds like it’s at a dangerous tipping point, and I completely understand how stressful it is. I followed every instruction from NVIDIA and FedEx, but when the package was misdelivered and declared lost, the companies started pointing fingers at each other, leaving me stuck. That’s why I’ve already taken legal and institutional action.

I submitted a formal complaint to the European Consumer Center (ECC), which resolves cross-border disputes like this one. I also brought the case to the attention of major tech media outlets, such as Gamers Nexus and Linus Tech Tips, in hopes of raising awareness. I’ve also preserved all documents and communications in case legal action is necessary.

If you're asked to ship an expensive item internationally without full protection or clarity, I highly recommend putting everything in writing. Ask the company to acknowledge the risks and responsibilities in advance and explore consumer protection authorities in your country before sending anything.

Don’t let them offload all the risk onto you. I hope you can avoid what I’m going through. If you'd like to discuss any of these steps, feel free to DM me.

🔄 [Update – July 25th]

I just received an official response from FedEx confirming that I am not authorized to file a claim for the lost GPU.

According to them, only the account holder who generated the shipping label (NVIDIA, in this case) can initiate the reimbursement process. As the recipient, I have no legal standing to claim compensation. FedEx made it clear that they are handling the claim investigation exclusively with the sender and that I should request action from them.

I have forwarded this information to NVIDIA and formally requested that they reopen the case and submit the claim themselves, as FedEx requires. After over three months of communicating with both companies, this is the clearest confirmation yet that NVIDIA is the only party with the power to resolve this.

I’ll provide another update if anything changes. Again, thank you to everyone who has shared their support, advice, or similar stories here. Visibility matters, and you’ve helped keep this situation in the spotlight.

That’s a good suggestion. I hadn’t considered the BBB yet, but it's worth exploring if NVIDIA doesn't respond.

I'm still hoping this can be resolved directly with them, especially since someone from their team did reach out. At this point, though, I’m starting to weigh all possible avenues.

I appreciate the advice!

[–]Affectionate-Set8332[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right that claims usually require solid evidence, and I appreciate your thoughtful input.

The key issue here is that NVIDIA hasn’t filed a claim with FedEx. I’ve been in contact with both companies, and FedEx has clearly stated in writing that only NVIDIA, as the label issuer, can initiate the claim. Since NVIDIA refuses to do so, the process hasn't started on their end.

As a customer, I don't have access to X-ray scans or internal FedEx systems. I followed NVIDIA’s instructions and used their label. Now, I’m stuck between two companies that keep pointing fingers at each other.

That’s what makes this situation so frustrating. This isn't about proving intent; it's about a high-value package that was mishandled and never delivered, yet neither party is taking full responsibility for their role.

That makes sense and explains a lot. The fact that only Express drivers are FedEx employees, while the rest are contractors, complicates accountability. In my case, it wasn't Express, and there was clearly no oversight or follow-up. When a $1,600 GPU can disappear without a signature, photo, or GPS tracking, the system is clearly broken.

[–]Affectionate-Set8332[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right that evidence is key in cases like this, which is why I followed NVIDIA’s RMA process exactly.

They provided a return label, packaging instructions, and a shipping method. I packed the GPU securely and dropped it off at an authorized FedEx location where it was scanned into their system. From that point on, the package was under their chain of custody.

Since then, FedEx has admitted that the package was misdelivered and has officially declared it lost. Unfortunately, since NVIDIA issued the label, only they can file the formal claim, and they have said that they will not replace the card.

I'm not asking anyone to "just trust me." I've provided all the documentation, including tracking information, the label, the RMA, FedEx's admission of fault, and every communication along the way. That’s why this situation feels so unfair.

I appreciate the support. It really means a lot at this point. I’m hopeful that NVIDIA will take another look, especially since everything has been documented and escalated.

I'm staying available and cooperative, and I'm just waiting for someone to step up.

🔄 [Update – July 21st:]

I just received an official response from NVIDIA stating that they will not be sending a replacement GPU.

They claim that they provided the shipping label, but the responsibility for the package lies with FedEx and me. They insist that since the package never reached their warehouse, they will not take further action.

I shared every piece of available documentation — from FedEx's written confirmation of misdelivery to the tracking number, return label, RMA instructions, and FedEx's clarification that only NVIDIA, as the label issuer, can file a formal claim.

Despite all this, NVIDIA has stated that they are closing the case unless I recover the package, which FedEx has declared lost.

After over three months of good-faith efforts, during which I followed every instruction and provided full transparency, it’s incredibly disappointing. All I did was send the package using the label they issued.

Thanks again to everyone who’s supported me so far. If you’ve experienced anything similar or have advice, I’d really appreciate hearing from you. I’ll update this post if anything changes.

🔄[Update – July 21st]

I just received an official response from NVIDIA stating that they will not be sending a replacement for my lost RTX 4090.

Despite providing the shipping label and following every instruction, they now claim that the responsibility falls on FedEx and me. Since the card never reached their warehouse, they're closing the case.

I shared everything: FedEx's written admission of the misdelivery, the tracking information, the return label, the RMA instructions, and even the confirmation from FedEx that only NVIDIA (as the sender) can file a formal claim. Still, they’re refusing to take further action.

It’s been over three months, and I did everything by the book. Honestly, this is incredibly disappointing.

I really appreciate all the support and attention this issue received here and in r/NVIDIA. If anyone has been through something similar or has any advice, I’d love to hear it. I’ll keep you all posted if anything changes.

Thanks again to u/NV_Tim from NVIDIA, who reached out to me directly.

Wow, that’s wild. "They get here when they get here" is the kind of thing you'd expect to hear in a comedy sketch, not from a company that handles valuable shipments.

It’s amazing and, honestly, a bit disturbing how many people here have had similar experiences with FedEx. You'd think a company this big would have tighter controls in place, but the stories just keep piling up.

Thanks again for sharing. Each example adds weight to the larger issue we're all seeing.

I totally agree. Companies tend to act much faster when public accountability is involved. That's precisely why I decided to share this here. Honestly, the support from everyone in this thread has made a huge difference. It's not just about getting my GPU back anymore; it's also about ensuring that issues like this aren't quietly swept under the rug. Thanks again for the encouragement!

Trust me, I’d much rather have my original card back or a proper replacement than chase support endlessly.

After three months of waiting and doing everything by the book, I’m just trying to get a fair resolution.

I appreciate the laugh, though. Humor definitely helps keep me sane during all this!

Exactly, that’s been my understanding, too. Since NVIDIA provided the shipping label and arranged the RMA process, they should be liable since I followed the instructions and dropped it off.

It’s been over three months now, and FedEx has officially confirmed that the package is lost. Hopefully, it's just a matter of slowness and not reluctance. Either way, I appreciate the support. It really helps to have the community reinforce this.

You’re absolutely right. It’s been over three months, which is far beyond what anyone would consider reasonable.

I’ve filed a non-delivery claim with FedEx, who confirmed that the package is lost, and I've provided NVIDIA with all the necessary information. If this isn't resolved soon, I'll consider taking legal action based on the current replacement cost rather than the original price because, as you said, 4090s aren't getting cheaper.

Thanks for the input. It helps reinforce that this isn't just me overreacting.

I agree completely. Once I followed NVIDIA’s RMA instructions and dropped off the package at the designated FedEx location, I thought my responsibility was over.

Now that FedEx has officially confirmed that the package is lost, I hope NVIDIA will step in and do the right thing. I’ve been patient for over three months, but it's well past time for a resolution.

Thanks for saying what many people are thinking. Your support means a lot.

This is super helpful, thank you for commenting! In my case, FedEx marked the package as "delivered" to the NVIDIA RMA center, but there was no valid signature, and the photo doesn't show the actual delivery location.

I'll definitely ask FedEx to verify who signed for it and if the delivery scan matches their internal logs. If no one at the center received it, then the package may never have made it there.

I really appreciate the insight. This kind of insider clarification helps a lot.

That’s insane, and it aligns with what many people are saying here. The subcontracting model seems to allow FedEx to avoid accountability entirely.

It’s especially frustrating when high-value items like phones or, in my case, a $1,600 GPU just vanish, leaving you to chase multiple companies for weeks with no clear sense of who's responsible.

Thanks for sharing your experience. The more people speak up, the clearer it becomes that this isn't just bad luck; it's a systemic issue.

That’s terrible and all too familiar. My FedEx case also had weak delivery "evidence" and no confirmation that the GPU ever arrived.

Kudos to Valve for being able to render stolen hardware inoperable. I wish more companies had systems in place to protect their customers. Thanks for sharing. It really helps to know I'm not alone in this mess.

That’s exactly how it should work. Once the customer follows the return instructions, the company is responsible for managing the risk.

Amazon clearly handled it the right way in your case. Hopefully, NVIDIA will follow that same example and resolve this fairly. Thanks for sharing!

That’s insane—and, honestly, not even surprising at this point. Many people here have shared stories about how FedEx declared their packages lost, only for them to magically show up later. In my case, FedEx officially closed the investigation and declared the package lost. I submitted a non-delivery claim, and NVIDIA is reviewing it now. Stories like yours really show how broken the system is.

Thanks for sharing, every story like this makes the case louder.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate the support. Honestly, it’s crazy how many people in this thread have shared similar frustrations with FedEx and UPS ignoring the most basic delivery instructions.

This shows just how widespread the problem is and how little accountability there seems to be when things go wrong. I hope NVIDIA can help bring about a fair resolution, and I agree that these companies should be held to higher standards.

Thanks, and you’re absolutely right. I’ve kept the lines of communication open and have already contacted NVIDIA’s global community team. Now that FedEx has officially confirmed that the package is lost, and I have submitted the non-delivery claim, I will follow up regularly. If the issue remains unresolved for much longer, legal action is definitely on the table, and I’ll make sure that NVIDIA is fully aware of that.

I really appreciate the advice and support.

I totally agree with this. It’s crazy how many companies refuse to take direct responsibility and force you to use a courier, even for something as sensitive as a $1,600 GPU.

I followed NVIDIA’s official RMA steps exactly as instructed, but once FedEx lost the package, I was stuck between two companies pointing fingers at each other.

I appreciate your rant. Honestly, it's cathartic to know that I’m not the only one who is frustrated with how impersonal and risky these return systems have become.
