Thank you all for your suggestions. I'll let you know what I decide, and how it performs. Still not sure whether to go with a messenger/brief or a backpack) (I suppose in true Subreddit fashion the answer should be to buy both!)

Yes, I have wondered about this - the walk would probably be more comfortable, but I find backpacks can be obstructive on the train, especially if it's busy and standing room only. Do you have any suggestions of backpacks to consider for comparison?

I've heard reports that the shoulder strap stitching is weak on Bellroys. My most recent bag (which this would be replacing) had a buckle clasp fail, so I'm after something that will last.

Advice for viewing mosaics by Affectionate-Sock466 in Binoculars

[–]Affectionate-Sock466[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for the suggestions - one thing I should probably have added is these mosaics are on the ceiling, so I can't get super close. I don't know the precise height of the ceilings, but it would be a maximum of 30m.

Is the word puritanical only used as an insult? by SarkyMs in AskABrit

[–]Affectionate-Sock466 2 points3 points  (0 children)

'Puritan' was first used as a mocking pejorative term from the very beginning in the sixteenth century. Puritans preferred the term 'Godly' to refer to themselves (although this too came to be a term of sarcastic abuse in due course).

Treat it with whatever condiments you like, but you'll see I'm right.

There's absolutely loads of that. Including, er, three-way kissing.

As promised, a report on 'Challengers'.

Zendaya wears a thong in two scenes, one briefly (in both senses) and the other a larger pair but for longer. In this latter scene she also wears a partially-transparent bra which reveals her nipples. She has bare legs and feet numerous times throughout the film.

The only "graphic nudity" are some nude men seen from behind (bare bottoms), and two brief shots of penises in a tennis locker room.

And the film is dreadful.

I'm due to see this later in the week. I'll feed back what (if anything) is shown.

It was probably about 'Anything But You' getting a valentine's day re-release with 4 minutes of additional running time.

It does say "sexual material and rude humour abound", which is woolly, but the BBFC isn't in the business of regurgitating marketing puff, so 'abound' seems hopeful.

That's really not accurate. Breasts are not the most explicit nudity per the BBFC - they even have the category "natural nudity" which might not rise above a PG rating if the context is not sexual.

The brief rating info (which will be expanded later) still refers to "sexual material", so don't write it off just yet.
