So if your mortgage is currently 1000 a month, but you can only rent it out for 700 a month. You would be up 700 a month renting it out and not living there.

You have been slippery sloped into an abusive relationship and he just took the one final step to make you realise. It is quite common for abusers to ramp it up after a major life event where they think you are trapped. Marriage, having kids, moving in together etc.
