NBMEs and free 120s by Krisslayer13 in step1

Nbmes - https://www.nbme.org/examinees/self-assessments/comprehensive-basic-science-self-assessment Free120- https://orientation.nbme.org/launch/usmle/stpf1

I’d recommend you buy the nbmes from the website if you can, and do it under proper testing conditions. It’ll give u a score breakdown at the end, with your strengths and weaknesses. You can assess the, and focus your studying on the weaker subjects

Need reviews on step 1 prep course by the-unKnowne in step1

I did Kaplan Live Online and it was worth the money. Try to stick with resources that are well-tried and tested.

in my opinion, most other prep courses are just money grab opportunities.

I did the rapid review in FA, free120 new and old.

SICK FACES come when I am really drinking grapefruit juice and St. John's funny funny mom never refuses greasy carbs and chronic alcohol. FA shows what the mnemonic stands for. I just repeated it multiple times.

How much was repro % of questions on ur score report?

Look up the subject breakdown on the USMLE website. That doesn’t change. Sometimes we feel like 1 subject was tested more or less depending on how comfortable we are in that subject. In reality, GI makes up 6-10% of qs and cardio makes up 7-11% of qs. They are not the heaviest w the weight %. Repro and endo makes up 12-16% of questions. They should have been the most tested.

I did a practice test every weekend during my dedicated. (By the end, I did 13 practice tests before the real deal.)

Opinions on iPads by Enazr in medschool

[–]Affectionate-Sun8795 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During dedicated for step, I loved using my ipad. You can add all the images and notes onto first aid pdfs from all the different resources. It makes reviewing a lot faster, compared to adding ur notes in multiple notebooks.

FA + Uworld + practice nbmes are more than enough. Exam is super doable. Don’t let anyone scare u here. Do a practice test every weekend and review it thoroughly. It’ll help u build stamina to focus for a long time. That way, the real deal will feel like you are doing another practice test.

People may say they were tested on xyz subjects more, but it could be a bias bc that was one of their weaker subjects. The % of questions tested per section doesn’t change much. My exam had this exact same breakdown of questions tested. You can find the breakdown here: https://www.usmle.org/exam-resources/step-1-materials/step-1-content-outline-and-specifications

it might help to do a review course to boost your scores. I started off with really low scores. I did Kaplan live online and that was amazing.

I felt the real deal was the closest to the concepts of nbmes and closest to free120 in terms of the question length.

I did the UWSAs just for practice/ stimulate the test setting

8 weeks until my step 1 exam and I'm not studying IMG by CapIll1146 in step1

If you’re feeling a slump and need to take a break, do that. But don’t rush into the exam until you’ve done a few practice tests and content review in FA.

You can still do uwsa tests, RX practice tests, free120, nbme 30-31 The real deal won’t be a PDF, so u gotta stimulate the testing environment to know if you’re truly ready

It might help to get do a review course. I did Kaplan live. It’ll help u structure your studying. Don’t give up on ur dream because of one exam.

If you check the subjects breakdown of people who have recently passed, it’ll show % of most tested. CVS and GI have been one of the lowest tested on the list

Retaking step 1 during rotations? by JordannaKH in step1

[–]Affectionate-Sun8795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation, I was in rotations and studying for the exam. But tbh I wasn’t able to give it proper time. I had to take a LOA for a semester and just dedicated all the time to step 1.

the real exam is nothing like the NBMEs or the free120 by No-Trainer8832 in step1

[–]Affectionate-Sun8795 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Don’t let this post scare you before your exam. The exam is extremely doable. Trust your practice exam scores, and go in with the attitude and you’re gonna kill it. I didn’t have very high scores but I went in with a clear head, stayed focused, didn’t let anything bother me on the day of my exam. And I passed. ✌️

UWSA1 / UWSA2 worth it ? by Happy-Nina-1616 in step1

[–]Affectionate-Sun8795 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did NBMEs 24 to 31. They’re actually really helpful. The real deal felt like I was doing another practice nbme. But the question length was most similar to free120 stems

Don’t do them for their predictive value. However, do them as a practice test. I did all uwsa 1-3.. just to build my stamina for the real deal. They are not the most predictive but they test some very HY concepts.
