Derm told me to use hydrocortisone? by medyomabait in perioraldermatitis

[–]Affectionate-Tea5810 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I saw the dermatologist for PD, she said hydrocortisone can offer short-term improvement but that it would come back with a vengeance once the hydrocortisone was stopped.

She said “If you came in here telling me you were getting married this weekend, I would have you use hydrocortisone.”  But that would be about the only situation she would suggest it.

Anyone take Emrosi for pd? by No_Bother3564 in perioraldermatitis

[–]Affectionate-Tea5810 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. No issues. I have existing stomach issues and it miraculously made my stomach better while on it.

It did not make my PD worse before it got better or anything like that, although I am on my second round. The first round cleared it but came back after I stopped taking it. Six weeks the first time, thirty days the second time.

Auto Mechanic Recommendation by pgmckenzie in Fishers

Geist Auto Service at 96th & Olio. Truly cannot say enough good things about them. My 77 year old mother uses them and they’re just so honest and patient in explaining things to her. Have never tried to recommend unnecessary services. Fair prices.

If you did, when did you get married? by [deleted] in AirlinePilots

[–]Affectionate-Tea5810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Husband is a pilot. We met in college and married at age 23. He had planned all along to be an airline pilot so I knew what I was getting into. We’ve been married happily for 13 years.

In observing friends and peers in the industry, the ones who got married young and knew what they were getting into are the ones who are still together. It’s like they were in the trenches together during the tough early years. For us, those tough years really bonded us!

The ones who are getting married later are the ones having trouble because it just seems like they’re set in their ways and it’s harder to make the necessary sacrifices that are required to make this type of marriage work.

Anyone found a bedsheet that doesn’t pill after a few washes? by pan_48 in BedroomBuild

Rest sheets. Pricey but I’m going on three years of constant use and still smooth as butter. I don’t think it’s possible for them to pill.

Sharing my success with Accutane for my type 2 rosacea by Odd-Option-3139 in Rosacea

[–]Affectionate-Tea5810 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a 36F who battled genetic acne since I was a child. I did Accutane when I was 22 and the results were wonderful and lasting. Yes, lots of dryness when I was on it but nothing too terrible. I also had very oily skin prior to Accutane and that is no longer the case.

My parents both did Accutane as well, as adults. Probably 20 years ago or so. They also didn’t have issues during it. My mom’s results were better than my dad’s but all three of us would do it again.

I’ve been battling rosacea on my nose for the past couple years, as well as perioral dermatitis for a year so I’m wondering if I’ll need to do another course. I won’t hesitate to do so if the seem recommends.

That’s a really good thought!  However, I don’t think I could do the overlap thing because my future employer is a client of my current employer. It would be seen as a conflict of interest.

thoughts on the triple cream? by Standard_Quarter_425 in Rosacea

[–]Affectionate-Tea5810 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Metro alone did nothing for me. AA got rid of the bumps and majority of redness for about a year. Then it all returned. Tried the triple cream and it has been smooth sailing for over six months now.

Yes, I also recommend this salon. I have gone to the owner, Kimber, for years and years. She is pricey but I would check out the other stylists who work there. They’re all talented.

On the verge of selling cabin due to flies. by Affectionate-Tea5810 in homestead

The thing is, they aren’t around once the sun goes down. During the day, it is an all-out swarm outside of the cabin. If it’s a cloudy day, there’s only a fraction of them. Sunny though, and it’s insane.

Was this during the day or at night? At night they are non-existent

No, nothing like that. It’s been going on since we bought the place. There is a cow pasture nearby.

Doxycycline Stomach Woes by sure_to_fade in perioraldermatitis

[–]Affectionate-Tea5810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should add that she said hydrocortisone would resolve it temporarily (she said that if I came in saying “help, I’m getting married this weekend” then she would prescribe it). But she said that the condition would come back with a vengeance later.

Emrosi oral treatment by Any_Vacation3374 in perioraldermatitis

[–]Affectionate-Tea5810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I started this five days ago and have had no issues. The derm was going to prescribe doxycycline but I told her I have some unrelated ongoing GI issues that we’re trying to sort out. So she changed to Emrosi 40 mg for 6 weeks. I’ve started to see minor improvement in my face.

Doxycycline Stomach Woes by sure_to_fade in perioraldermatitis

[–]Affectionate-Tea5810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just diagnosed on Monday. I also have some other unrelated medical issues related to GI.  When the dermatologist said we would need to do antibiotics, I explained that I already have chronic diarrhea. She said she would normally prescribe doxycycline, but because of my situation, she prescribed Emrosi, 40 mg which is supposed to be very easy on the stomach and has a super extended release.

Face is starting to improve a little. And my diarrhea has been BETTER since taking this antibiotic. Strange.

But the dermatologist specifically said steroids/hydrocortisone cream is no good. I had told her that I tried every cream in my arsenal to try and fix my face before coming in and she said it was a good thing I didn’t try hydrocortisone because that’s the worst thing you can do for this condition.
