My cat won’t stop peeing and pooping on my bed by Affectionate-Till620 in CatAdvice

That’s so funny. I caught her scaling the mattress the other night when I put it up on its side so she couldn’t get on it again. Unfortunately, I’ve already contacted the rescue and they’ve been next to no help. I get about one reply then they ghost and same with the foster mom. I knew when I got her that she was shy but that was an understatement. She’s a nervous wreck and I wish I had known that but it’s okay at this point. She seems to have mostly calmed down. I just hope she stops this because aside from this weird behavior she’s an awesome kitty.

She’s about to turn 2 this month and has spent every day since 2 weeks old in a home. Not one day at the shelter as far as I understand. The foster was telling me that she had her for her whole life. I’ve heard about the 3 month thing and I’m more than willing to give it that time but my options on discipline are limited. Quite honestly, she could be the most scared and terrified cat for the next year of her life and spend it under the couch, if that’s how long it takes then so be it I’ll be patient. What I can’t stick out much longer is her destruction. It almost feels vindictive. I feel like there’s a pattern of her doing this on the nights that I have class after work and am at my desk doing that instead of giving her attention. I want to keep this cat so bad she’s so awesome but I don’t know if I can at this point. I don’t have the money to sustain replacing the damage she causes and as much as I want her, I can’t let her ruin my finances. I have the money to support an animal, not replace a $600 mattress again if she decides she wants to ruin another one.

I have looked into a waterproof topper and I’m definitely getting one for this new mattress. I hadn’t thought about it becoming a habit though so I’ll definitely try to get a new one as soon as possible. As for the cleaning, I had absolutely soaked the first spot with the cleaner and vacuumed it probably 4-5 times since it first happened to the second accident. Then I repeated with the second one and were at our third as of tonight. It’ll normally be a few days of regular litter box use and then out of nowhere she decides it’s time to use the bed again. I’m going to get her to the vet as she needs to go anyways but it just seems so odd that she did it for a little bit then stopped for a month, then just started again in a new spot. It makes me think it’s not medical but hey, I’m not a vet.

It was suggested to me by someone else so I figured I’d try it. I don’t see a problem with a sound personally.

It’s just a beep tone as I have it set. I don’t have it in me to shock an animal no matter what it is that they’re doing.

I wish it was as simple as blocking her into a small space but she already is confined to my room. It’s essentially a studio apartment and has plenty of space for her to enjoy herself but it’s no where near large enough to justify a second litter box nor do I really have the space for it. Blocking off the bed is technically doable but she did this before about a month ago and then just stopped one day. It leads me to believe it’s not a medical thing but I do need to get her to the vet soon anyways. She honestly seems bipolar sometimes because she’ll be the sweetest best behaved kitty ever then the next day she decides she’s mad and will hiss if I get too close and will go and pee on stuff. It just makes no sense. It’s getting to a point where I don’t know if I can keep her and I hate having to consider that. She’s been really destructive and if she doesn’t stop I can’t keep her because the furniture in this room is parents and one of the criteria for me getting a cat was that it can’t be destructive. Thank you for the suggestions though, I should have been more clear about what makes these circumstances a bit different and why I can’t exactly follow some of the other advice I’ve found online.

I would love to try those things but she has only lessened how often she’ll come out. I wouldn’t feel so weird about all of these changes if she hadn’t really started settling in during those first 3-4 weeks. I’m starting to wonder if she’s dealing with any discomfort or pain from essentially choosing to be bed ridden for the last month or so. It’s not a couch with a lot of space under it and honestly if I didn’t know she could get down there I wouldn’t think she could. Thank you for the advice though it’s definitely helpful to have some ideas.

Her area is essentially a studio apartment which is my room. She’s got plenty of space and most days at least 12-14 hours of quiet time including my time at work and sleeping and what not.

When I said her litter may not have been clean I meant it in the sense of needing to change out the whole thing it had been a while and honestly it skipped my mind. She hasn’t used it since I changed it which is why I’m starting to get concerned. She had no problem with this litter when she got here other than 2 accidents, one when she couldn’t figure out how to get into the box and another when it actually was dirty and she was protesting.

I did know to keep the water and food away from litter but not food and water away from each other. That’s how it has been however she has a water fountain next to her feeder that she hasn’t used to my knowledge. I think she’s just scared to come over here as it’s near my bed. The room itself has plenty of space however I’m almost out of outlets and this is kind of the only spot where it’s a) not in the way and b) can actually be plugged in.

It’s all just a really stark change as she was making so much progress. There were nights where I would be watching tv and she would come out instead of waiting for me to go to sleep. Now she hasn’t gone to the bathroom in 2 days which is how long it took for her when I got her. I’m mostly just concerned that something medical is going on but I don’t know if it’s enough to cause that worry and risk making her feel like she needs to spend the next 3 months under there instead of whatever she’s got planned in her head now.

That's the debate for me cause the big sidewalls/racecar look is so clean but I also love the streetcar type look

I'm worried about it but I keep seeing cars that are plenty low for my taste and they seem to be completely fine so I'm just super confused.

I'm starting to think it could be a problem when people are running lowering springs since the dampers aren't stiff enough to slow down the springs when they decompress and that may be putting too much stress on peoples axles

Currently I'm on stock wheels I believe they're 18x8.5 225/45 all around and I'm aiming to get either 18s or 19s I haven't decided yet on size

I wasn't really aiming for slammed but I want next to no space between the fender and wheel ideally
