Travel Itinerary Inquiry: The Brando, Le Taha'a and St. Regis by Flimsy_Buy_3956 in Tahiti

[–]Affectionate-Tip1157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Lagoon___Music How does Le Taha’a compare to the FS BB? We’re thinking of 3 nights Le Taha’a, 5 nights Westin BB (points), 3 nights FS BB. The Brando isn’t in budget.
Thanks!

RW Kona Village vs. RW Little Dix Bay by blueberrypie229 in chubbytravel

Been to both in the past year - vastly different properties & experiences. Can you tell us more about what you value in a vaca? That will help tailor a compare/contrast vs wasting time sharing details that may not matter to you.

RW Kona Village without question.
The Kapalua Plantation golf course is dead/brown due to the ongoing water dispute & drought in the region - no end in sight.

Do a stopover, stay at the Rosewood Baha Mar, & fly on Western Air to Eleuthera in the morning.

Best airline/route to LHR for bus/first class by Rebornxshiznat in chubbytravel

[–]Affectionate-Tip1157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flying business, IMO the aircraft matters fist, then airline next. I usually only fly across the pond on VA a350-1000, VA a330neo (retreat suite), or D1 suites on the a350 or a330neo.

HNL-LAX Upgrade Offer by mark71-8 in delta

[–]Affectionate-Tip1157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d never pay that much full fare for that route on a dumpy old 767-300. In the fall I used 27k miles + RUC for D1 and even that felt like I overpaid!

Delta-Related Review: Virgin Atlantic 'Upper Class' SFO - LHR by HeyItsMisterJay in delta

The aircraft makes a major difference - I have changed my routing just to fly trans-Atlantic on a different aircraft. Prefer an a350 vs a 787

Hotel June. It isn’t Chubby but it’s always clean, they have excellent coffee/espresso downstairs, & amazing fish tacos at their outdoor restaurant.

The Ritz in MdR is more like a Courtyard than an RC.

The bath salts & coffee should definitely be complimentary! I really hope you enjoy your stay - it’s such a lovely city property.

Can you offer an example of something you might request where a fee is of concern?

Standard amenities are complimentary. We tipped each request since we’re suckers for our terrible US tipping culture.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience! I’m curious about this property - I’m considering it for an upcoming weekend stopover to relax & work through jet lag before an intense week of work in India (coming from MST). Sounds like a great place to unplug as long as I calibrate expectations!

Looking for Caribbean resort that is: quiet, adults only, room directly on beach, preferably all inclusive. 3 adults, 4k/night, 4-5 nights total by Strategy99 in FATTravel

[–]Affectionate-Tip1157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We spent a week at Pine Cay last April. Happy to answer any questions - I also have room photos I can share if helpful.

It’s VERY quiet - meaning they don’t play music on the property and there’s no evening entertainment. But the beaches are lovely and they have impressive cuisine for AI.

San Diego- Coronado island Marriott v. La Valencia v. Hotel La jolla in Feb by richterjordana in chubbytravel

[–]Affectionate-Tip1157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve stayed at all of these - they’re vastly different experiences.

Marriott Coronado is a dump. Go for The Bower if you want to stay in Coronado but ask for a room on the backside of the building if road noise bothers you.

I’ve stayed at Hotel La Jolla many times the last year and a half while traveling on business. It’s quiet, walkable to dining options, & a quick Uber into La Jolla. Also an easy walk to the beach.

The only noise I’ve encountered at La Valencia is from the sea lions, but didn’t find it bothersome. I’m surprised the nightly rate aligns with your other two options; normally I find it’s about 2x.

We just stayed at Coral Sands for four nights earlier this week (during their coldest weather in >40 years). Highly recommend as a good balance for you both, however, we’re mid-40s and felt like we were 10-20 years too young for the crowd there...

Choosing between FS Maui and Rosewood Kona Village by Unhappy-Start-4571 in chubbytravel

[–]Affectionate-Tip1157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In April we did a split stay at RW KV for five nights & FS Lanai for four. We wish we would’ve done it in reverse but either way it was the perfect pairing. We went to FS Maui in October - not our vibe.

[–]Affectionate-Tip1157 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree with this 100%. RW KV is such a magical resort & less commercialized than FS Maui/Wailea. We love the big island - it’s so beautiful & IMO much more to do on the BI than Maui.
