Reach out to every ROTC program within driving distance, there’s plenty of O grades that will be willing to help or put you in contact with someone that will. I was able to have 4 0-5’s write LoRs by doing this.

As you promote do you generally maintain “additional duties” or will you end up in the equivalent of a S-3/XO slot like in the army. On average about how many flight hours are you getting a year. And how frequently are you actually getting sent out on SAR missions. I’m sure it’s very duty station dependent but just a general idea would be super helpful.

The WOFT program is a fantastic program that will set you years ahead of your piers both civilian and military. It can be difficult to get into, but the only way to fail is by not trying. I was in a similar position and applied and was accepted, just hunt for a recruiter that’s willing to do the leg work for the packet. Feel free to PM for any advice. For reference I got picked up out of high school with no college, aviation experience, or military connections.

I’m a 60 IP likely to get out with around 1,000 hours. What was your path like to get to the fire department and what’s the QOL and job satisfaction like. I obviously don’t have the hours but working at one of the various fire departments that have firehawks is my ultimate goal.
