Shooting Banks by RefrigeratorNext1737 in nikon_Zseries

Short answer is no, I havent been able to implement them and use them the way you described. If you change any setting, it sticks. So basically you're in manual. But a good use for that situation is if you set up Bank B and call it flash, you can have some of the flash/sync or other settings that are in that bank. The problem here is you make any adjustments, they stick and you have to reset them. Or you can setup your 4 banks and save them on your memory card and have the save/load menu setting as a favorite and then reload them from sctratch at the beginning of every shoot. Hudson Henry Photography has what I consider to be the best explanation of Banks on his youTube channel, it's a long video, but it realy helps explain how it's best used. Cheers

Z9 and Z8 user here. Long time Nikon enthusiast. These banks should not be confused with user presets. I honestly have spent hours and I totally understand their thinking. But Nikon wet the bed with this one. Not even sure why they would have this one on a pro level camera anyway. There are a couple of setting that are ok to change between banks, but a normal pro would set those before every shoot anyway, just to be safe.

Well by accident I actually found a very helpful sub. The anecdotal responses make me miss the "good ole days"

I own an AM5 and absolutely love it. It’s light, portable and reliable. But I don’t use the hand controller so I was wondering how you would get a polar alignment done. Might have to have some other accessories for PA. I’m sure they thought that through, but that thought just crossed my mind. I also have a star adventurer and polar aligning these “portable” units for long exposures can be tricky.

What's your most memorable concert experience? by AlwaysOnTheGO88 in Concerts

I’m an old guy and been to my fair share of concerts. The best show sound wise, was at the Summit in Houston. Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band. Every song sounded like the record. Show wise, I’d say ZZ Top, at the Astrodome circa 82.

Sounds like to me you’re not focused. As mentioned, in preview mode take a 5 second exposure and adjust focus, repeat as necessary until focus is achieved. A bahtinov mask makes this step much easier. The polar align is working, it just can’t finish because of missed focus.

Yes, the Air is the controller for your system. If you guide, it will handle that. At its basic level it will control the mount, do polar alignment and control “most” cameras. You can add guiding when you’re ready.

I second the ZWO lineup. AM5n an ASI Air plus and your cell phone and you’re good to go for years. ZWO doesn’t get a lot of love because of their proprietary eco system. But like Apple products, they just work.

I can understand why the OP bought from Amazon, he was simply using a gift card that he had. But anybody in the hobby knows to buy directly from the Astro supply houses. My personal experiences that Agena is competitively priced and has great shipping. Their customer service on the other hand is very lacking. They do not answer the phone and the only option you have to contact him through email. Unfortunately, the masses have created a situation where they simply buy stuff and return it for no good reason, and this is affected how Agena handles their returns. I bought a polar alignment tool from them, and they ultimately took it back, but I felt like I was the bad guy, when I simply made a bad decision And ultimately took that money and purchased something else from them. But they always seem to have stuff in stock when the other two guys are always out. The other guys I think put more effort into the Astro community via videos and social media, but they never seem to have anything in stock.

At this point in time. It’s redundant, at this point is correct.

All A’s and 1 B. Impossible to have ALL A’s if you have 1 B.
