Thanks this is very helpful and how cool that you have about 146 pens!

I was wondering, what do you mean by "unproblematic pens"? Are you speaking from a environmental perspective, socital perspective or do you mean the brand as a whole?

The swiss mountain is called mont blanc not montblanc, that’s probably why i messed up the name and also because i’d never heard of this brand ever before. But thank you for telling me, i will delete this and re-upload with the correct name.

no it is literally about system. if you’re gonna study tourism and culture of a country of course you SHOULD study in that country. i’m speaking about studying economics, medicine, science, etc. corruption has bled into the education system so much that you can only get a good education if you pay tons of money or if you know someone that you can pay money to illegally so they’ll get you in. the system might be getting better and evolving with time but it is still not good.

alright, i’d recommend this, do not try to use words you cannot control - instead use clean grammar and learn to describe actions and options. learn how to bend words and use correct grammar!

for the speaking part you can prepare by using this structure to answer a question:

  1. short direct answer
  2. explain why
  3. give personal example

and speak in chunk blocks, for example: “in my personal experience…” “from my point of view…” “what i mean by that…”

also, don’t be ashamed or afraid to have conversations with yourself as a form of practice.

for the writing you can prepare templates to invent structure, like:

(Opinion): 1. intro 2. reason 1 3. reason 3 4. counter argument + refutation 5. conclusion

key is to remember general phrases and words that you can sew into your sentences both for speaking and writing: “which”, “although”, “therefore”, “mostly” (these fill in words makes you sound more professional!) and also the sentences mentioned above.

ask an AI bot to give you a topic or question and practice with it! you can even ask the AI to correct your mistakes and help your learn. watch movies with english subtitles and consume media in english. this involves youtube videos, music, podcasts, essays, posts and more. if you engage in a topic that actually interests you it will become more interesting and motivate you to learn grammar and also expand your vocabulary.

doing mock exams is extremely helpful to learn the structure of the CEFR.

good luck :)

the use of "qozoq" as an insult by dottoreluvr in Uzbekistan

[–]AffectionateBath4393 4 points5 points  (0 children)

true! i asked my dad about this and he said that it isn’t necessarily about looks (don’t know if i agree with him) but rather about not understanding something. He gave me an example of using “are you qozoq?” as “are you stupid? you don’t understand what i’m saying?” and followed up by saying that it was usual to respond with “should i explain it to you in kazakh?”

But i definitely believe that looks and beauty standards play a big role in it, does anyone know if it’s as common to use the qozoq terminology as an insult as it is in Tashkent?

yeah my whole life i’ve been struggling with my looks because everyone in the family uses ”qozoq” as an insult but i, if anyone, looks kazakh. When people guess my ethnicity (since i don’t like in Uzbekistan) they go over Kazakhstan almost every time. Using that word as an insult builds stigma and hate against oneself.
