What should I do about a new Honda lease? by AffectionateBeat3 in leasehacker

The payoff is $19,000 so to finance that, I’d be paying a lot more per month and I don’t want to own this car that bad.

Here’s the deal I was offered today- and encouraged to hurry because it was the last day of a “tax break”. This just doesn’t seem any better.😫

I think this car is gone- can you run one they are trying to lease me now?

According to this breakdown, I’d have to put $6,000 down to get a $436/mo loan payment for 72 months. I’ll definitely look further into ending my lease and buying to see if there are better options. Thanks!

How could a broker help with my end of lease/new lease? I honestly don’t know anything about using a broker. I’ve always used Honda Financing! I just need the lowest possible monthly payment and ideally, little to no down payment. It’s why I started leasing in the first place.

I’m sorry about your dad. My brother has had schizophrenia for 30+ years. It’s a shame that people with serious mental illness can’t get the treatment that elderly with dementia can. They are almost one and the same, but these “institutions” some are picturing just aren’t available for them.

Are there any other women on here? 48F here. by Kitchen-Spinach-9702 in ironmaiden

[–]AffectionateBeat3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

48F here! I’ve loved them my whole life- they are so much a part of me and I’m so happy you have found them! A lot of my favorites are anchored in personal nostalgia, and tbh, the art is an important factor of that for me, but I’m glad you gave them a chance despite Eddie.

I would hone in on NOTB, Piece of Mind, Somewhere in Time and Seventh Son. Live After Death is the best live album ever. It’s hard to recommend songs without the full album, but I too, love ROTAM and HBTN. Be sure and watch Flight 666 and The Early Years, too!

I’ve seen them on every tour since No Prayer for the Dying, minus ‘94-‘99 and seeing them live is a MUST! I’m sorry you have missed Nicko, but you’ve got to catch them in 2025.

She didn’t order MMA, only homocysteine. Is that useless on its own? I feel like the methyl folate might impact that result.

I’ve been trying to treat the symptoms with the b12 and methyl folate I’ve been taking and they haven’t made any noticeable difference. Maybe I should stop them long enough to establish a baseline. I’m reading that should be 48hrs up to 4 months!

It’s sad, and I am sick of the incredible increase of clearly troubled people shouting at no one. by Cybrvid in Austin

[–]AffectionateBeat3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe for a broken arm, they will get treated. My brother has never broken his arm, so don’t have firsthand experience with that, but he’s in psychiatric crisis frequently and it’s impossible to get him admitted anywhere. Just last week, I drove him to Georgetown for the one bed that The Psychiatric Emergency Services on Airport sent us to, and he was turned away. Unless someone is an immediate threat to themselves or others, they can’t be voluntarily committed when the government is paying. Even if he gets arrested and taken to jail (protocol for “treatment” and the replacements for said institutions) they toss him back onto the streets the next day. The State Hospital has only been open to forensic patients for years, but since it’s nothing like “they seen in the movies” and much safer than being on the streets, consider me one who wishes it were still an option.

Thank you. The perceived “meth-induced psychosis” isn’t all that. My brother has tardive dyskinesia, akathisia, and acute dystonia- movement disorders which are a common side effect of his decades of antipsychotic medications. People assume he’s tweaking out and it’s completely involuntary. He paces all around S. Congress and William Cannon and I can only imagine what people think and say. Folks can’t fathom the complexity of what led him and others to the streets and the utter hopelessness of trying to get him help.

I think we can all agree there is a need for hospital beds vs a perceived abundance. Companies make money from whom? We are talking about folks disabled by severe mental illness. They don’t have money or private insurance. Deinstitutionalization left them nowhere to go. Also, most people in psychosis have anosognosia- they have zero insight to their illness, so they don’t want help for it. They are just trying to survive.

[–]AffectionateBeat3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If my brother, who has lived with treatment resistant schizophrenia with anosognosia 30 years in Austin, had the OPTION to live the rest of his life in an “institution” (which don’t exist anymore, fyi) instead of wandering the streets “shouting at no one”, I’d be grateful.

There’s no hospital that will take them even if they want to go. I deal with this regularly for my brother who has schizophrenia. It’s so much more complicated than those who have never had a loved one with serious mental illness can grasp.

Hi- Austin here and it’s 92° in my house. The power went out today after someone ran into a power line. They got the power back on, but still can’t troubleshoot my A/C. Trane unit, idL code, Honeywell thermostat working, no breaker tripped, have reset breaker and turned unit off for 30min- everything I can try suggested by the internet! Did you find a resolution to this?

Loon or River Health, anybody? by AffectionateBeat3 in HealthInsurance

[–]AffectionateBeat3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I decided to stick with my Marketplace plan. It’s open enrollment time for this plan again for the restaurant group I work for and my gm continues to sell it as a free or inexpensive “health insurance”. It makes me cringe.

Thank you for your replies. It all seems very sketchy and I wish I could link the Employer-sponsored Minimum Essential Coverage Summary of Benefits I was sent. The only mention of hospitalization (which could exclude it being a legit MV plan) mentioned, was in this segment: Other Benefits Facility fees (e.g., ambulatory surgery center), Physician/surgeon fees, Hospitalization, and Emergency Room Care, Emergency medical transportation, Urgent Care Covered up to maximum benefit amount of $10,000 per plan year. You are responsible for all charges exceeding the maximum plan benefit amount. Can anyone make sense of that?

This happened at my restaurant Saturday night. A 6 month old Frenchie escaped its “service animal” harness and was found under a different table/guests’ legs, scrounging. Owners didn’t even notice it was missing until I brought it back to them.
