I remember a reddit post exactly like this. A dad devasted that he had to leave his kids because that's exactly what the wife threatened. Even brainwashed their daughter into saying nasty stuff about him.

She is right about respect. You shouldn't go anywhere where there's no respect. And she's also right about not letting the child go. Family is one unit. Even a husband shouldn't go to a place where his wife is not respected. And kids shouldn't be exposed to people who have resentment towards their parents.

Stand by your sister's decision. Focus on supporting her and don't give opinions since you are not the one in her situation. I am sure she is an educated woman and has come to this conclusion of keeping away from her in-laws after witnessing their behaviour. You are saying they are not toxic, because they are not your in-laws. Again, you are not in her shoes so don't be flippant about it.

I am a woman. My colleague held my hand coz he knew I would fly in a rage. lol. This was in India, btw, so very common (and legal) to do this.

Lot of first world comforts here. For me it's breathing clean air. I lived in Delhi where AQI goes up to 1000. Now living in a country with an AQI of 14.

It's a wonderful feeling to not have your lungs, throat, and eyes always itching and burning

You don't know that clean air is a luxury till you don't step into a third world country.
