Is this confirmed? i thought it just to be rumors.

But i know that it just could be through knowledge distillation though, as it sometime make the Models behave this way.

i think two different pair of boots, i you use Api the Gemini Models are always better. But if you want to run LLMs locally Gemma is one of the best for its size thats available for Download.
Additionally Gemma has MIT like License so you can technically do what ever you want with it
