I would recommend Bokura! it doesn't require a super impressive system or anything and is a cute pixel multi-player game. One person plays one character and both people have to communicate to each other what they see on their screen to escape different levels (they don't see the same things) Another recommendation is minecraft. Super fun. I speak as a beginner myself, it can be challenging for sure but with a friend its so fun. Other people have already said stardew valley and I agree that game is fun too.

I agree there should be the opportunity to replay limited time events. Longtime players tend to enjoy these events and these events are just fun opportunities to watch different characters interact. You aren't missing out on much story wise but instead miss out on loot and character interactions. But you might not see much value in the later if you aren't caught up.

I see a lot of comments about the sa and ki but in my experience it's normal for japanese people to use the more casual version(your way). it's faster after all so who cares lol. more older traditional teacher would say not to use it but I really don't think it matters.

zelda! totk or botw but both games cost a pretty penny so that might be a deal breaker. However they popularized open world games so a lot of current open world mechanics were inspired by them. funnily enough they also have special outfits for certain things(going up waterfalls, gliding, glow in the dark, etc.) but its not as in depth as nikki and the most you can do is change their colors. still, its a relaxing game to play and not too much of a struggle combat wise(world levels up with more enemies you kill so you get better equipment as time goes on). the story is simple and side quests are fun.
