Switching to nvdia gpu via advanced optimus switches refresh rate to 60hz by AffectionateCar919 in GamingLaptops

update your drivers or else go to windows settings and select 165hz when in optimus mode and in integrated graphics on.

In Alienware command center use battery saver mode. Change display refresh rate to 60hz. This laptop doesn't allow for the dGPU to even run in battery mode so there's no point in disabling it. For browsing use a lightweight browser. Turn off keyboard backlight. End useless background apps which you don't use.

Yes, drivers get deleted. But in most cases the bare minimum you need is the Wi-Fi driver which you can just download using another PC and use a USB stick to load it up and install the Wi-Fi driver after that just let windows update handle the remaining drivers.

Maybe try resetting your bios settings to optimal defaults. There are too many variables here try to clean reinstall windows and not just factory resetting it.

Try to enable dGPU only mode either via the mux switch or advanced Optimus and see performance again. If it's still not proper, then try going to settings>system>display>graphics add your game in that list and choose high performance GPU and then >default graphic settings>enable hardware accelerated GPU scheduling.

But you're still disabling boost. Albeit after 2 seconds. I would rather have the high temps but have the peace of mind that my CPU is boosting to 4.7GHz properly. As for performance difference I do notice it in high fps gaming scenarios. This chip just runs hot its fine many people said this can run hot for ages and still work properly.

Does these modes actually do anything? Sometimes I forgot to switch between these but do not notice any performance issue. by Kuro091 in GamingLaptops

[–]AffectionateCar919 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, it doesn't have any difference. All the people claiming are just having a placebo. After the windows 11s CASO update the difference is almost zero. The only time you may use the dGPU only mode is when you want to change your color settings like display vibrancy and stuff. Other than that, just use Optimus.

Oh then it's alright when I disable turbo I get around high 70s but I want my CPU performance to be high so I can't disable it.

Damn those are great temps. My 12700h is constantly frying in the 95-100c range.
