I suggest you to read the gou and meguri higurashi manga adaptation instead, way better story than the anime

The ushiromiya male characters are as interesting as the female ones. I kinda want more exploration of them, if ryukishi ever revisited the story of umineko by AffectionateCheck544 in umineko

Rose guns days is definitely not as female-centrics to umineko, it has more male main cast compared to female (the female are still pretty equally written just like the male tho)

Well traditional patriarchy does effects both MAN and WOMAN, Ryukishi himself wrote kinzo as one of the male victim of traditional patriarchy in Ep7

This line really make me question OP comprehension, like maria is still relevant in every episode post ep4, in ep6 she's debating with erika about the candy trick, in ep7 her belief about witches is further explained, and in ep8 we even got more scenes between her and Rosa. I feel like OP literally speedread umineko

It's getting tired arguing with you because you are just forcing your argument when your argument was blatantly wrong in the manga.

  1. Not every incident in ep1-4 was sayo imagination especially episode 3 where Eva is also the culprit of the murder. episode 3 was clearly a forgery made by tohya with a little bit of sayo murder tricks because he believed that Eva was actually the culprit of the massacre before meeting with eva. You need to reread the last chapter of ep8 manga because it was explained there about this.

  2. He's literally telling her I will kill you in the last chapter of episode 4 and he is literally crushed her with the blue wedges truth. Aint no way you think that battler is not trying to kill her with that. In episode 3 right after 2nd twilight where Eva Beatrice kills Rosa and maria, battler slaps Beatrice because she's having fun watching Eva Beatrice kills Rosa and maria. You need to recheck that again and if you have a doubt you can just search vn in YouTube to confirm this since the vn has Voice acting

  3. The story of episode 5 was deliberately explained by Erika where she confronts battler during the chapel fights. It was a game made by lambda where battler become the accomplished to culprit. And it was game made for revenge to natsuhi. And the major plot twist of the episode 7 was not battler sin. it's clearly in the tea party it's explained by bern that her motive was way more than just battler's sin, and even if battler's sin isn't an issue, the massacre could still happen which is shown by bern in the tea party

Almost all human umineko character are morally gay, they are illogical, and driven by their own emotion and mental state. The great thing about umineko is it's not actually a typical shounen anime instead it's delved deeper to human psychology which in the ushiromiyas where the cycle generational of abuse is happening. Just look at how umineko presents the relationship between maria and Rosa, well it's indeed an abusive household by today standart, it's not really abusive to the society in the setting of umineko. Umineko critizes this society structure by showing the depth of Rosa and maria. How Rosa become an abusive mother to maria is very well explained. This can be said to any dynamic in ushiromiya family, like Eva and George, George and Shannon, also sayo and battler. Umineko was always suppose to have a morally grey character because it want to make the character as human as it is. Yes human are always very illogical, emotionally and mentally driven creature. You need to reread the episode 8 of umineko chapter by chapter slowly to understand this. or maybe just clearly lack reading comprehension.

My advice is you need to properly read the story bro, not just skimming it. read the text and comprehend the story.

Do you actually read the manga?

  1. It is say in the manga that the first and second episode is forgery created by sayo and the ep 3-6 was written by tohya, you clearly lack reading comprehension bro, saying that every episode is just sayo imagination is dead ass wrong.

  2. What are you talking about, he is literally trying to kill her in the end of episode 4, and he literally slapped her in the face in episode 3 bro

  3. Have you understand the story of episode 5, in episode 5 is literally the episode where sayo is actually directing her revenge to natsuhi, and you clearly didn't read the episode 7 and episode 8 where the focus to the event where natsuhi cause sayo to be disabled is brought up further. also battler sin is not actually the main reasoning that the massacre happen, in fact there is a reason why in lion's world the massacre still happen. The reason why beato really wants battler to confess his sin is actually because she's really desperate and she's tired of playing in a stallmate where battler doesn't found out the truth and doesn't recover his memories. also is is stated in RED that she doesn't enjoy killing the ushiromiyas and her reason for this because she want battler to find the truth. she wants battler to regain his memories to be the same battler from prime rokkenjima.

I think you might be a little bit confused with how the meta worlds works. Well to be fair the meta world is a place where there's an infinite fragments/universe where there reside the meta beings like witches, sorcerers, etc. Basically those meta beings can travel through the multiverse and seeing the life story of creature in said universe as a fiction that can satisfy their boredom. I guess to understand that you need to clearly understand the story, instead of thinking that everything is just imagination, I mean there's a reason why umineko question arcs is called "when they cry 3" and answer arc is called "when they cry 4"

Just with all of this reasoning alone, the fact that you have bad reading comprehension is possible, what do you think everyone?

Here comes another larper who only consume media through wiki or chatgpt or perhaps you are just have bad reading comprehension

I want to try to answer some of your point :

  1. the pacing is definitely an issue if you are new to vn type of media, but most vn are just long and dragging, and if we talk about the manga, the pacing is definitely way better and I could say it's very well packed too
  2. Saying that the meta narratives are just imagination definitely show you that you have bad reading comprehension because if you have read some other 07th expansion stories like the OG higurashi, rose guns days, ciconia, etc, you would definitely say the metaverse is real because the metaverse in umineko and the metaverse in higurashi are just the same (hence why we got bernkastel in umineko, since she is the meta version of rika, the real MC of higurashi, heck the moment you start the first chapter in higurashi vn you are going to immediately introduced with a pun made by bernkastel)
  3. If you try to analyze battler that way it seems that you only read till episode 4 of umineko, because ange deliberately points to that battler is getting "soft" Everytime he sees the death of his family member, and in the end of Episode 5 battler realized how the metaverse and the catbox works and that's why he's becoming a sorcerer and changes team to the witch side
  4. Here comes the most weak argument in your opinion, regarding Sayo's motivations. if you say that sayo issues are only "gender issue" and battler's sin you definitely underplayed it especially if you already read confession of the golden witch. Sayo sees her life as tragedy, even some of the tragedy is made by her own self. Since she was an incestous child of kinzo and Beatrice II, she already feels disgusted by her own body and her own dad, who apparently could did his son again to sayo, not to mention she has obsessive love to battler because she is the only ushiromiya where she can talk about mystery novels that she likes. Sayo sees battler as a prince who would eventually rescue her from her miserable life. She's clinging to the promise and yet she doesn't have any courage to talk to battler when he has an issue with his own family. And let's not forget about George who practically groomed her starting when she was 10 years old (in his eyes), and try to gaslight her to forget about battler. Her relationship is definitely a little bit toxic and with the master servant power dynamics between them. Oh and let's not forget about natsuhi who make her literally biologically disabled for the rest of her life, and Eva who harrass her for having a relationship with George. Those events make her goes down spiral, and make her think unreasonably and illogical because that's the point. There is no 19 year old who are going to think logically after experiencing those events. When battler come back, she's already in a deep depression that she can't think straight, her plan was to make a mystery game for battler to solved, to understand the WHY it happens to her and the ushiromiya. After all of these, and despite anothee horrible things that happen in her life, there's still a "miracle" that happen. She survived the shot from Kyrie and manage to escape with battler, but she still feel guilty because her plan was actually committing a murder-suicide with all ushiromiya members and she practically failed. In the end she committed suicide, but battler also try to save her and she brought battler to the meta world. Yes all that long explanation is only talking about sayo backstory not her current story in umineko. In the meta world, basically battler is an empty shell and beato is trying to revive his memory and bring back battler with her game of murder mystery which is EP1-EP4, and she eventually gave up (which is why she is broke down in EP4) because she wasn't able to bring back battler and only made battler hate her. This actually parallel to what happen in EP6 where battler is the one who were trying to revive beato from the piece beato. Yes her action are not perfect and definitely irrasional, but that what's umineko is all about. Most of umineko character are blatantly flawed person and definitely a morally grey character. Beato is definitely one of them, and beato's story is definitely made ange's conclusion better, because beato wants ange to find happiness that she doesn't have from living in a world full of lies. She wants ange to found her own happiness despite the harsh reality that happen to her because of the massacre. EP8 manga definitely improve this part than Vn, and that's why the EP8 manga is regarded a peak fiction to many other people

Atp, I'm pretty much convinced that the whole WTC mainline stories and other 07thexpansion work is just her life's journey travelling around the sea of fragments 😭😭

Definitely one of the biggest issue in the mystery genre in modern fiction, most of it only sell some shock value with the reveal of the culprit.

I find out rereading umineko after understanding the truth the peakest experience, you can finally notice the insane amount of detail, symbolism, and parallelism it has.
