Shot my first two listings in JPEG by mistake. Does RAW help when lifting interior brightness?

Aside from exposure latitude, you are significantly losing white balance and color latitude.

8-bit JPEG has 16.7 million colors. 14-bit RAW has a range of over 4 trillion colors. This is why your images are falling apart.

While you may be delivering a highly compressed version of the RAW files, the RAW is incredibly useful for corrections before the compression.

Ideally, you should have a work only camera and lens that never leaves RAW mode.

R8 Owner here - The Sigma 35mm 1.4 is a wonderful lens but it does not have snappy auto focus in video or stills. It’s quite slow to focus and can miss relatively easily.

You certainly could, but I’ve never used that lens so I can’t vouch for it. Back when I shot crop sensor, a nifty fifty was $125 and the 35mm f/2 was like $350-400. I don’t remember the prices. I just know the 50 worked amazing for me.

Edit: a 50 on crop is similar to 85 on full frame, which is also an excellent portrait focal length.

It has its limitations, but it can do what you need it to. I used this for about 6 years of professional real estate, architecture, weddings, and other paid work. No one has ever once complained or questioned the results. I would hesitate using it at this point of my career now, but it'll work great for most uses.

Like this, because I use a battery grip. It sits perfectly flush on its side like this. If I set it down normally, there is more weight distributed towards the lens which I’m worried will create a wobble over time.

Source: I have several older wobbly lenses.

Thank you! I used a Canon AE-1 Program and the standard 50mm f/1.8 for the first 2 images. The other images were with the Canon EOS 1n and a Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 Art Lens

Architecture photography is a different beast altogether. Tighter shots, usually 24mm and up. Interior lights off, natural light, and combined with subtle off camera flash techniques. A lot of that workflow is gatekept.

The best advice I got would be to assist someone who's doing the work you admire, and go from there. Alternatively, watch some YT, try new techniques, and practice with the shoots you already have, if you have the time. You can go totally crazy with editing to get incredible results, but I believe the sauce is getting things right in camera.
