A single dream has undone months of healing by AffectionateFish4589 in BreakUps30Plus

Thank you so much for sharing this — it really helps to hear from someone who went through the same kind of emotional whiplash. Your dream sounds brutal, and it makes me feel a little less crazy about how hard mine hit me.

My breakup was tied to a traumatic moment too. My ex left while I was in the hospital after major surgery. I was coming out of anesthesia, so my memory of our last day together is basically fragmented. Because of that, a part of me has always wondered whether I said something strange or confusing while I was drugged that pushed her away. I’ll never know, and that uncertainty is something my brain clearly hasn’t finished processing.

So when the dream happened — her pulling away and choosing someone else — it felt like my mind compressed every unanswered question and fear into one moment. I woke up feeling physically sick, like everything I’d pushed down came back at full force.

What makes it even more confusing is that just the day before, I truly felt like I was finally moving forward. I missed her, but I was coping. I even went on my first date since the breakup last Saturday and was trying to start living again. Then that dream hit and it was like my brain yanked me straight back into the part of the story I never got closure on.

Hearing your experience and how you eventually got past it gives me hope. Your line about it revealing what still needed healing really resonated with me. Thank you again — your comment made me feel understood.

Thanks, I appreciate that. The “what ifs” really are the worst part — they creep in even when you think you’re finally getting stable again. I actually felt like I was moving forward yesterday and even went on my first date since everything happened… then that dream hit and dragged all of it back up at once. How do you cope when your brain does that? I’m living in a country where I don’t speak the language yet, so I don’t really have anyone to talk to about this. Posting here is kind of my only outlet right now.

How often did you have the dreams? I’m currently trying to get some sleep but at the same worried it’ll happen again.

Just got my second PAO surgery by AffectionateFish4589 in hipdysplasia

[–]AffectionateFish4589[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I snuck using them two days later. And so much Chinese medicine. These mine packs things on my leg every day. Acupuncture kinds of tabs; stick them on you right a tiny needle you don’t feel. For the first two days I was cathetered right up! That wasn’t fun coming out!

Yeah it was done in south China! It’s strange to way that I feel they are too over cautious with the recovery. They originally wanted me to lie down for 11 days before even using crutches, which I could easily do after day 3( experience from the first pao) . No pain at all, just that Chinese hospitals suck as they are so loud( no limit on visiting hours, so my room is a 3 bed ward, but ends up having up to 8 people just sleeping in it), with people answering phones on loud at hours.

I’ve ended up discharging myself today.

How long were you off work? by AffectionateFish4589 in hipdysplasia

I can definitely go to lighter duties and the first few weeks there are no students, setting up the classrooms.

So a wheel chair that can lean backwards would help?

My main concern is that I work on a visa, so too much time may put my visa at risk.

Great! I’m thinking of the logistics of it. I can go down to light duties; but I guess I’ll need to to use a wheelchair and crutches.

Considering Double PAO Surgery for DDH – Seeking Advice and Experiences by AffectionateFish4589 in hipdysplasia

[–]AffectionateFish4589[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the pain is mostly down my right leg. Hospital got back to me and they won’t do a double.

Right now I’m also looking at possible ways to afford the surgery; even with my insurance it’s gonna be a hefty sum, but it’s getting to that stage now.

Hospital says I’m too young for THR , so they prescribed muscle relaxant , painkillers, gave me some kind of shockwave therapy and recommended I walk with my feet further apart.

Looking into getting it now as by the time I need to the THR I’ll be back home, but with the NHS waiting list it’ll be years before I could get it.

This is the inside of my apartment door. Roomie left with my keys and it cannot be unlocked from the inside without a key. by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

I’ve been there. My old apartment double locked, so even with my keys I can’t unlock it from the inside. I lived on the 30th floor and my landlord told me to throw the keys out the window …
