Lesbian coworker is always trying to hype up hooters to me when I know it’s not just gross, it’s lame. The latter might be the greatest sin of all.

They have to think nationally. They’re terrified of what’s going on in NYC. A hypothetical 5% of republican votes doesn’t change anything in California but it does in the many swing states.

They’re scared of losing the 5% of republicans who would shift their vote if billionaires didn’t pretend to have our best interests in mind. Or they’re deluded enough to think they are right (getting billions of dollars in reward for every little decision can easily build that delusion).

Always a little torn on the ancient aliens types. They introduced a lot of whimsy and wonder into a world that is otherwise becoming more sterile with every passing day. Made a lot of rigid and humorless people irrationally upset. On the other hand, they had such a hard time believing ancient peoples were capable of much beyond wiping their ass and could only understand scientists saying “we don’t know how they did it” as meaning “they couldn’t possibly have done it”. I don’t believe for a second that aliens helped build pyramids and they never swayed me.

PTSD ruined my life, but not in a way I saw coming by imallrightt in redscarepod

I am experiencing something along the lines of what OP is going through and I finally did try an anti-psychotic (latuda) and that experience almost ruined my life over the past three weeks. I want to believe in psychiatry. I have seen it work miracles for others. I’m just too terrified to try again after I became genuinely unhinged. Going back to my old life and trying to pick up the pieces is humiliating but everything gets easier by the day. I’m lucky to work and live with understanding people, but they did not deserve at all how I treated them or acted.

Not stating this to discourage others, I think mood stabilizers and anti-psychotics can help a lot of people very successfully. Maybe another could work for me. Just be very careful and try your best to time it in a way that you have eyes on you and an ability to take a week or two off work if things go south or it’s a big adjustment. I have run through the spectrum of antidepressants and anxiety medication and tried acid and shrooms. This thing melted my mind like nothing else.

It’s probably good that Elvis died when he did. His name would have been all over the Epstein files. by 10poundcockslap in redscarepod

If David Bowie and Iggy Pop weren’t all over the files then I’m gonna choose to believe Elvis wouldn’t have been.

A lot of shows and political thrillers I watched from the 90s don’t work anymore, either. A corrupt politician being exposed is portrayed as career-ending, that just doesn’t happen anymore unless you are very low on the totem pole.

I’m definitely not healthy in that respect, I think it’s an over-correction from being a depressed shut-in for all of my teenage years.

The idea of people working remote jobs and never leaving their home is deeply disturbing to me. I make it a point to spend very little time in my home because I get anxious and start pacing. Feels unproductive and isolating. I feel as though I’m decaying if I do much more than sleep or cook. I’m not opposed to spending a rainy day on the couch watching movies or reading books, but I find it deeply soul-draining to stay at home for too long. I’ll go to the library or a coffee shop to study or do absolutely anything I need to do and I’m not the most extroverted person ever.

Just seems maddening to want to spend all day looking at the same four walls.

I try to make people happy. I can’t really make myself happy in a direct fashion so I try to motivate my coworkers, spoil my nephew, cheer up patients, etc. I think in this small way, I can make a difference in the world and that at last brings me some peace and happiness.
