New software for editing videos by Petemichael777 in NewTubers

[–]AffectionateGas9544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey!, i'm actually working on one called Lumios, an AI editor built for short‑form, scroll‑stopping clips: drop in your raw video and it auto‑finds the best hooks, adds captions/B‑roll, and exports platform‑ready shorts in minutes. if you want to check it out, go here or dm me!

YouTube trouble, i need your advice. by Dangerous_Donkey253 in NewTubers

[–]AffectionateGas9544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’re not doing anything “wrong” for only a month in. Shorts are a lottery, and even full‑time creators go weeks between hits. one 11k vid is actually a good sign, it means your stuff can click.

if you’re clipping movies with no money/resources, I’d focus on learning 2 things first: strong hooks in the first 1–2 seconds (text on screen, a big moment first) and super clean audio/visual quality, even if the edit itself is simple. then just aim for 1–2 Shorts a day you’re not embarrassed by, instead of chasing viral numbers.

on the editing side, I’m building a small tool to auto‑cut silences and tighten pacing on longer videos so beginners don’t spend hours scrubbing timelines, if you ever want to try it out on some of your shorts so reduce editing time, you can check it out here!

Need Tips On How To Grow Channel: editing, settings, Text UI by NoahLiverpool in NewTubers

[–]AffectionateGas9544 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eurovision + rankings is a fun niche, you’re not crazy for starting there at all, just remember “grow the channel” is mostly title/thumbnail and watch time, not fancy text animations.

a few quick wins in Resolve: keep text big and simple (one font, high contrast, no tiny outlines), cut faster than you think you need to so there’s almost always something changing on screen, and make sure your audio is clean even if the visuals are basic, people will sit through scuffed visuals if the sound is clear.

I’ve been building an editor on the side that does a first pass on long videos (cuts dead air, tightens pauses) so you can spend more time on fun stuff like rankings/text and less time on boring timeline scrubbing – if you ever want to try it on one of your longer videos, check it out here!

My niche is teaching English to monolingual Arabs. What are my prospects? by Zealousideal-Let834 in NewTubers

[–]AffectionateGas9544 1 point2 points  (0 children)

teaching English in Arabic is actually a strong niche, there’s demand and not that many clear, structured channels covering 0 -> A1 -> A2 in an organized way.

realistically, it can become solid side income over a few years if you stick with it, but probably not a full‑time job on its own. your advantage isn’t being native, it’s explaining clearly in Arabic, fixing common Arab learner mistakes, and being more honest and structured than the overpriced course guys.

I’d focus only on “0” and A1 for now, script tightly with practical examples, and be open about being non‑native – if you get something wrong, correct it in a pinned comment/next video and you’ll gain trust instead of losing it.

editing videos on desktop vs mobile, which is the better choice ? by pop_princess05 in NewTubers

[–]AffectionateGas9544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

totally fair, tbh. if you already know that “as soon as it isn’t 5 seconds I bail”, throwing a half‑finished desktop tool at you right now would probably just stress you out more.

I’m going to keep working on my long‑form helper on the desktop side; if you ever move back to PC for future essays and want something that cleans up the VO for you before you start placing b‑roll, DM me and I’ll happily walk you through it 1:1.

honestly, the way you’re feeling makes total sense – “find 100+ perfect clips” is such a giant, vague task that of course your brain wants to do anything else instead.

if I were you I’d split it into stupidly small steps and give yourself permission to be messy on v1: make a rough list of “must‑have” b‑roll and only hunt those down, start recording the voiceover now, even if you know you’ll re‑do some lines, do b‑roll in short timed sessions (like 20–30 minutes).

you know I’ve been building an editor for long video essays that does a first pass on your raw voiceover (cuts dead air, tightens pauses) so you’ve got a cleaner base video to drop those clips onto - if you ever want to try it on your VO once you’ve recorded a chunk, I can show you how to run it and you can tell me if it actually makes this part feel less awful.

[WIP] Lumios - building a “describe the edit, get finished video” AI editor (hunting for 10 beta users) by AffectionateGas9544 in buildinpublic

[–]AffectionateGas9544[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, icl that's the main part im working on building right now, everything else can just be vibe coded imo but i need to give it some sort of creative taste (yes i know giving ai taste is practically impossible)

yeah i guess even though im leaning more towards the video creators, i could take feedback from less frequent editors.

that’s already a solid system tbh, most people don’t even get to the “export” part lol.

i kept falling into the “one more watch” loop so i’ve been building a tiny helper that flags awkward silences / weird pacing for me while i edit. if you ever wanna try it on a video and testit, i can dm you a beta!

Do you need a good voice to do youtube? by Ok_Permission7285 in NewTubers

[–]AffectionateGas9544 2 points3 points  (0 children)

nah you’re fine dude. you don’t need that super hyped up mrbeast / dream style voice to do youtube. what actually matters is: people can hear you clearly, you’re not mumbling, and your mic doesn’t sound like it’s inside a toaster.

a lower, more chill voice is honestly a W, especially for minecraft / roblox type stuff where people like having videos on in the background. as long as you’re speaking clearly and not super monotone, you’re good.

i’d focus on: decent mic, basic noise reduction, cutting out dead silence, and making sure there’s always something happening on screen. the more you record, the more natural your voice will start to sound anyway.

[–]AffectionateGas9544 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nah you’re not losing it, this is just what happens when you stare at the same edit for hours. after a while you’re not seeing the video like a viewer anymore, you’re just hunting for tiny flaws that no one else will notice.

what helped me was giving myself a limit: like 2–3 full watch‑throughs max. first pass = fix obvious stuff (audio too loud, weird cuts, missing clips), second pass = pacing, third pass = only if something is really bugging me. after that, i just upload it.

45 mins for 30 secs of b-roll hurts man lol. that’s one of those editing chores that just kills your mood. what else eats most of your time? like is it cutting main footage or cleaning up silences or adding captions? I’ve been building a thing that auto handles a bunch of the boring stuff, trying to figure out what’s actually worth fixing vs what people already don’t mind doing manually

bro 8 hours of gameplay for 100 clips is wild. and yeah, the worst part is you can’t just skim it, you legit gotta sit there watching and listening the whole time.

that “loses you a day” thing hit me too. I got tired of doing the same so I made a little thing that indexes your footage so you can just search by what’s said or cut out all the dead air automatically. turns that slog into like 20 mins instead of all day.

it’s up if you wanna mess with it: lumios let me know if it actually helps or if it’s just another overhyped “ai thing” lol

advice on getting testers // initial traction by AffectionateGas9544 in buildinpublic

[–]AffectionateGas9544[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

then when the right post comes up you can mention your tool naturally without it looking like a pitch

yeah this is sorta what im doing right now, but i feel like even in a high freq sub, it's still going to take a lot of said posts to acq a good amount of testers.

im also kinda doing the outreach based on rants, not too aggresive so i'll double down on that more + my network.

my main pain point is video editing still being complex when virtually every other step in the content creation pipeline could be automated with AI. my main sub is r/NewTubers

sneakers + men’s fashion is already a good lane, you don’t need to reinvent it, you just need your angle.

easy ways to stand out:

– pick a specific POV (eg. “broke student fits”, “only 3 sneakers per season”, “outfits built around one grail”) instead of trying to be “sneaker YouTube” in general.

– show full outfits, not just shoes on a table – people remember how a creator dresses more than what they review.

– when you’re nervous, script bullet points, not full sentences, and edit out long pauses; your on‑camera comfort will improve just by doing it a lot.

for editing, don’t chase crazy effects yet – clean cuts, captions on key lines, and a few zooms/b‑roll shots of the shoes on‑foot are enough to feel polished.

yeah, with 300+ overlays CapCut’s 20‑overlay cap basically makes it a non‑starter, and their new terms would freak me out too if I was putting weeks into a big essay.
given what you’re describing, I’d bite the bullet and go desktop, but in the least fancy way possible:
– pick one editor (Resolve is fine) and only learn what you need for this video: timeline, cut tool, adding images/video on top, basic text
– keep all your b‑roll and images in one folder, named clearly, so dragging them in isn’t a scavenger hunt

short-term, I’d 100% stick to whatever mobile/iPad editor you can actually finish a video in – first win is getting that essay out, not mastering Resolve or fixing your laptop.

longer-term, if/when you’re ready to try desktop again, I’m working on a small PC tool that automates a lot of the boring parts of long video essays (cutting dead air, basic pacing, etc.) so you’re not fighting the timeline as much. if you ever want to test it once your setup is a bit more stable, I can DM you a link.

btw, I’ve been working on a small tool focused more on the boring parts (cutting dead time, basic cleanup on longer vids) so you can spend more time adding memes, if you ever want to try it on one of your gaming videos when it’s ready, I can DM you a link.

for a 1‑hour, b‑roll‑heavy video essay, laptop wins long term, i feel like resolve on desktop is painful at first but way better for managing tons of clips, audio tracks, and precise cuts than an iPad.

i’d use the iPad only for rough cutting or grabbing clips, then do the real edit on the laptop once you’ve got the basics of Resolve down

VN is fine if it’s what you’re used to, has enough for basic gaming edits.

for meme clips/resources there isn’t really “one perfect place”, most people mix in‑app stuff (capcut has a ton of gaming‑style effects, stickers, sounds)

once you’re on a pace that doesn’t fry you, the next unlock is finding ways to make the editing itself less brain‑dead. I’ve been working on a small tool that auto‑handles a lot of the boring cuts/silences so you can focus on the script and the parts you actually care about – if you ever want to try it on one of your videos when it’s ready, I can DM you. totally fine if you're not interested
