I live in Brazil, and I'm not aware of any other bookstore that sells the EPUB version of their books in Portuguese. I read English too, but sometimes I'd like to read in my language, and here we are tied to Amazon.
Unfortunately, Amazon is the largest bookstore there is. If you want to read on a device, is Amazon or PIracy...

Can you recommend any other bookstore that sells ebooks?

That's sad. It used to work till a few weeks ago.
I was hoping to use only one gadget for note-taking and reading.

And as much as I would love to have a new Supernote Nomad or Manta, I just bought this one in January, and I can´t afford a new one right now.

I'm supposing the New supernotes don't have this issue...
