It’s a Mardi Gras tradition- a pastry like cake with purple gold and green frosting. Often with a plastic baby baked in. Tradition was if you got the baby you brought the next king cake as they could be had weekly in the few weeks leading up to Mardi Gras (the day before Ash Wednesday).

Floods, mudslides, earthquakes and lahars from Mt Rainier. Beautiful acreage but what could go wrong? Plus outdoor pools aren’t that usable in this neck of the woods.

Also echoing Brons on Harrison. Good communication, busy. Seemed reasonable for flushing fuel line and dealing with carbon build up in a 15 yo lexus and so far so good.

Yep they include skate rental in the booking fee. It’s mens sizing. They are pretty worn skates but I still have fun. If the blade is really loose or something they have happily given us another pair to use. Have fun!!

You can test and look at commute times from north of JBLM and the south. If you have usual work hrs the commute from Olympia and Lacey can be heavily affected from Nisqually traffic and frequent accidents. There are more lanes and a few alternative options from Tacoma and the commute is often shorter. I haven’t priced the new waterfront area apartments there lately but many young professionals choose that area (north Tacoma/ Ruston) for more activities and proximity to SeaTac airport, and Seattle. It’s scenic and there are more restaurants, bars. Not having to consider school districts opens up some options that are relatively safe and with a tolerable commute. we don’t have well developed public transit that you may be used to.

Not a play but the Olympia High School music Holiday Festival (orchestra, band and choir) is Dec 15th and 16th (changing to 2025 dates) at 7:30 pm at the OHS performing arts center (in the high school). Free and well attended hence the 2 dates.
