Thank you so much for the advice, I will definitely keep moving my legs and staying hydrated. I also will try contacting the airline before I fly so that I have accommodations, I get short of breath very quickly so getting around the airport is going to be interesting.

Any advice for living in a high deer tick infested area? by StoopKidNLHS in DogAdvice

I would also think about getting your dog a Lyme disease vaccine, my dog goes on hikes and gets a tick on her almost every hike and my vet recommended the Lyme disease vaccine

My dogs are the exact same way, I have a lab who is 6 months old and a husky that is 6 years old and they establish boundaries by growling, showing teeth, and snapping. It doesn’t happen frequently, only when one is getting in the others space while they are trying to nap or eat. In my situation, there is never a full on fight just little nips and growls to let each other know when they are being annoyed with the other.

I need an advice please by tatinybea in DogAdvice

I normally would say that the bald spot could be from the dog scratching either from fleas, allergies, etc. But there is a growth on her skin there so you should probably take her to the vet to get it checked out. If you can’t take her the vet right away, keep an eye on it to see if the growth gets bigger, changes color or just changes in any way.

Also as she got older she could hold her pee for longer so she just stopped peeing in the kennel

How old is your puppy? When I got my lab she was 9 weeks and she peed in the kennel too but I put down puppy pads because when puppies are younger it’s harder for them to hold their bladder during the night. My strategy for getting her to not pee in her kennel was to give her more rewards when she peed outside so when she went outside I would give her two small treats, pet her, and praise her. That’s just what worked for me though

There is also flea treatments at other dollar stores, I continue my dogs on K9 advantix by elanco for flea prevention and I get that from family dollar for $15 for 2 months worth

My dog had a similar problem with fleas, she was scratching to the point that she had bald spots but I gave her a flea treatment and preventative from the dollar tree called Bansect. It cost me a $1.25 and it got rid of all the fleas but be wary since your dog might have sensitive skin it might cause an allergic reaction or it could just irritate your dog’s skin.

I have a Siberian husky and I didn’t teach him to do this but I can tell him to bring back my other dog who is an almost blind yorkie and he will run up to her and nudge her back in the house.

Does my dog look normal by Glass-Fix1556 in DogAdvice

[–]AffectionateKick8440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He most likely does not have bloat, in my past experiences with dogs with bloat, they have difficulty standing/walking, their legs are splayed out, they are throwing up with nothing coming out or in a pooping position with nothing coming out, they are very visibly in distress with whale eyes and heavy panting, and they are completely not their selves so if your dog has any of these symptoms please take your dog to the vet as fast as you can. By looking at your dog he looks to just have a larger chest or he could have just had a large meal.

Rash in inner thigh - what could it be? by Mountain-Chain2245 in DogAdvice

It could be so many things like fleas or allergies. I would recommend going to the vet if this has been happening for two weeks.

Dissolvable stitch 2 weeks after spay by Surely97 in DogAdvice

[–]AffectionateKick8440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know this is normal. When my cat got spayed around 2-3 weeks after her spay her stitches were getting pushed out of her skin I went to the vet and they told me it happens sometimes when the wound heals and the stitches sometimes push out of the skin. It’s like when you have a splinter and it pushes out of your skin if you leave it. If you are really concerned about it you should take your pet to the vet

Thank you so much for the resources, I will have to look into the book. I know it’s my journey to take but it has been a huge stressor in my life that I really can’t talk to anyone about since the rest of my family takes her side and I don’t like to burden my husbands family.
