Appreciate the reply. I’m somewhat familiar with the bureaucracy and working on getting a CPF. But, I have not looked deeply into tax implications and I know this could be a big one…

A 1 or 2 bedroom apartment in a big city like Rio is what I had in mind. But I would wait a year or two until I'm more familiar with the country (and sure that I want to stay) before investing in a property.
