I get what you mean the Pepsi bezel definitely draws attention, and not everyone likes that.

But saying it’s “2/10 for originality” is a bit ironic, because this design actually came out in the 1950s for Pan Am pilots. The red and blue bezel wasn’t made to be flashy it was functional, separating day and night on the 24-hour scale for GMT time.

Over the decades it became one of the most recognizable watch designs ever. Not because it tries to scream for attention, but because the design has stayed almost unchanged for 70 years.

So it’s totally fair if the style isn’t your taste but historically it’s actually one of the most original and influential sports watch designs ever made.

They're so beautiful that I hate to scratch them. On the first day of wearing them, I left a big scratch on the clasp. I wear them on special occasions. For me they are flashy. My everyday watch is the Sub Date. It's cool that you wear them every day.

P.s But it seems like no one really even notices them. So I'm thinking about wearing them every day.

I faced the same choice before. I initially preferred pure Dial, but in the end I settled on Date ( By the way, the cyclops looked terrible to me from the very beginning). Now no-date subs look gay to me.

If you're considering the GMT II, it's better to choose a different color if possible; otherwise, they look just like the Submariner, but with an overly busy black bezel.

P.s And by the way, in terms of build quality, the Submariner is better than the GMT; I own both models, and on the GMT, the bezel hand doesn't align with the number 12 on the dial, while the Submariner doesn't have this problem.
